3. Nothing like a closed mind. Because they are "commies"?

Because our nation is so democratic (as shown during the Pittsburg G-20 demonstrations), with the Patriot Act, spying on lawful and peaceful anti-war organizations, the theft of the 2000 presidential election, Wall Street and corporate America's control over the government while China is so undemocratic?

The Chinese revolution overthrew feudalism and opened up China to the possibility of dramatic political and economic reforms that have just begun.

6. The United States has nothing to "teach" the Chinese people on human rights and democratic rights.
How about cleaning up US human rights abuses before lecturing others?

The fight for real democracy and civil liberties and rights begins at home!

We do not live in a democratic nation that guarantees our civil liberties. A tiny weathy minority controls the government and economy. The government clearly serves them and not the majority of American people.

which is no better?

14. You have a choice. You can remain ignorant of Chinese history.

That ignorance explains why you can't understand why the overwhelming majority of Chinese people celebrate the anniversary of their social revolution, including those who didn't support the oppressive nature of the old Stalinist regime headed by Mao.

Do you have any idea of what China was like before the revolution and the progressive direction that China may now be able to lead the world in?

Of course you don't.

Just a bunch of radical "commies". Right?

20. You have no idea what I know and what I don't
All I'm asking you is why should I, an American, take any more interest in a state-organized patriotic display in China than a Chinese person would take in watching the Boston Pops 4th of July fireworks spectacular?

28. They are way worse than we have ever dreamed of being
Slave labor, the selling of body parts harvested from prisoners. Not to mention Tibet. Internet censorship and the complete and utter lack of free speech. the massacre of thousands of students who dared protest in 1989. Etc, etc.

There is simply no comparison. China is probably the worst government in the world when it comes to repression.

as do the corporate Democrats, no matter how liberal some of them are on other issues (see under: Robert Reich).

So, yes -- the previous poster was absolutely correct to use the term "slave labor" to describe China.

38. Looks like you have come full circle with your posting history.
I vividly recall how you started out on DU during the PR campaign for the Olympics in Beijing last year by constantly posting Chinese Communist Party talking points in concert with a handful of others who have since mostly disappeared. Now, here you are again, working to convince people that their views of China must be skewed.

Kudos for one thing though, your English has improved considerably in the time you've been busy here.
