I'm broke, and so far I've only put about $30 into his campaign. But if a half a million progressives who are pissed about waffling democrats, the appointment of Specter and the blowoff of the left from leaders in the democratic party all put $20 into his campaign, that is $10 million right there.
http://www.actblue.com/page/sestak2010If we get Sestak elected, it'll show the democratic party that we mean business. My understanding is all the national and Pennsylvania democratic infrastructure is behind Specter. Obama & the PA governor have agreed to fund raise and campaign for Specter.
Imagine what it'll say tot he democratic party if Obama is out fundraising and campaigning for Specter, but the left puts Sestak ahead and helps him win the primary in 2010 anyway. It will show Reid and Obama that we are not to be ignored or treated like a bunch of passive followers. And we will put our money and volunteer efforts where they suit us best.
So if you can donate, please do. The goal of 2006 and 2008 was electing democrats. The goal of 2010 should be electing better democrats.
Getting Sestak elected is one of the best ways to send a clear message to the democratic party about who funds and supports them. That combined with what Moore and Trumka have threatened, combined with the new found courage the CPC is showing on health care will help show the democratic party that we are not going to be treated like naive followers.
