Open Letter to John Edwards

When people call me an "Obama-bot", I tell people the truth; you were my first candidate, the one I voted for in the Florida Primary. I did this for several reasons, but mostly because out of all the candidates we had, you were the one that talked most openly about the fact that the rich were waging class warfare upon us. Obama and Hillary were both centrists, both people that would hint at things, but never outright say it. I had reasons for liking both Hillary and Obama; Obama had brains and charm, Hillary had battle scars and smarts. However, I knew that neither one would be very aggressive about attacking the folks that have hurt us more than Ben Ladin ever did, the American Plutocrat.

I was a paralegal at the time, and unlike the people that whined "people get too much in lawsuits!", I knew that a lawsuit was the one thing many a company would actually fear anymore. I knew the only thing people with rich pockets cared about was money, and that the reason for all that "punitive money" was because that was the only thing that kept the killing and maiming of victims from being profitable. I knew your average company would run Auschwitz if they thought they could make money off it, and that the only thing they feared was a lawsuit. I admired you, because you hurt Companies in the only way they cared about, and as a result, everyone, from that former Wal-Mart executive Hillary to that former Harvard grad Barack, at least kept distance from you.

Barack was warmer towards you, but not warm enough to offer you the Veep slot. At the time, I remember being angry that you were passed up. However, as it turns out, you had a built in problem that the GOP would have exploited. You went and did a BILL CLINTON! Hillary can forgive Bill till the cows come home, but seeing as how his failures helped put Bush 2 in office, I do not have to.

YOU KNEW how much damage the whole Monica thing did, and what did you do? You repeated the EXACT SAME RESULT, right down to the lying! Worse, you did it to one of the few people that everyone admired! Hillary may have gotten some pity when Bill went off on numerous escapades, but Liz was a dying lady, and one that was still telling people to focus on YOU, rather the herself. You also knew how the media could use that against you, and that they would lean right, because that's where they get paid. But you did not care, and indeed, even tried to inject a little rock and roll with Dave Matthews just to seem like a hip 20 year old.

The fact is, you betrayed those of us that believed in you, and you did it in the name of your own damned ego! You would have given the GOP yet another media scandal, and let's face it, once McCain got his war with Iran, he probably would have "died in his sleep" thanks to Dick Cheney, and we would have president Sarah. You could have been the last honest voice for the poor in this country, but you blew it, and blew it for a cheap thrill. I hope your old age finds you alone John, and I hope that you one day become one of the poor you forsook.

1. Why NOW? This is gratuitous piling on..

When has JRE said or done anything in the last year?

If you had posted this a year ago it might be worthwhile - but this seems like gratuitous pile-on against someone who has been invisible for a year.

3. Here's something you might consider ...........

Take a look at John Edwards, and tell me you honestly believe that this fling was his only time straying.

No way.

That guy's been a hound from the time he could walk. Elizabeth Edwards has probably known about it and turned a blind eye because of her kids, and, this cannot be disputed, because she had her ambitions, too. When their son was killed, no question that they drew closer together, and even went all the way through those horrid fertility treatments which may or may not have contributed to the cancer that is now taking her life, but which got them the two kids they wanted.

John Edwards got caught this time, and that's what's news. The history he probably has is, my guess, littered with the bodies of women with whom he didn't just have one-night stands, but, worse, romances. Relationships. And, when he was done, I suspect a lot of money changed hands, contracts were signed, and silence was purchased.

Edwards has gifts, and his aggressiveness and political and legal skills would, I honestly believe, have made him a stunning candidate. But, like Jimmy Carter, and, alas, like Barack Obama, he would have arrived in the White House far too inexperienced in the ways of Capitol Hill to be effective.

But, he was flawed from early on, and all we're seeing now is the tip of the iceberg. That's my theory, anyway............................

Did he make a new public statement?

This is just gratuitous pile-on.

At this point, I just wish that he would have used the $$$ he spent on building his vast mansion -- which I heard was the biggest house in the state (:wtf:!?) -- to fund programs for the poor -- those he professed to want to help.
