CNN Host Who Uses Racial Slurs Says Divisive Rhetoric Will Be ‘The Death Of The Country’ »

beckflag2.jpg Yesterday on NPR, right-wing talk show host Glenn Beck criticized fellow conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh for his strident rhetoric, saying it will be “the death of our industry, and the death of our country.” Listen here:

Beck may be right about Limbaugh, but his own rhetoric is equally divisive and destructive. Some lowlights:

The anti-gay slur “faggot” is nothing more than “a naughty name.” <1/23/07>

“What happened to the Duke lacrosse team was practically a lynching without the rope. And for the first time in my life, Mr. Oreo Cookie without the chocolate on the outside can understand why people celebrated when O.J. Simpson was acquitted.” <1/15/07, using a racial slur for African-Americans that refers to “being black on the outside and white on the inside>

1. "Fish will be the last to discover water." (Einstein)
One of my favorite quotes.

4. Sure. I think that f-word is 3rd on my list of intolerable slurs.
Right after the n-word and the c-word ... words that even soil my mind when I read them.

(yech) :puke:

2. Staying with fish,

It would be heart warming to watch these (bottom-feeding scavengers, barracudas, piranhas, your choice) tear each other to bloody bits! LOL

6. I like barracudas. One of them was my 'tutor' for bouyancy control while scuba diving.

We called him "Spuds" ... because he used to hang out under the dive boat waiting for goodies. At my safety stops, I'd release the bar and go face-to-face with Spuds ... adjusting my BC, my breathing, and my 'Zen' attitude until my bouyancy control was approximately as good as his. At a depth of 15'-20', the 'edge' of neutral bouyancy is sharp ... making that practice some of the most valuable I got.

For that, I'll always appreciate Spuds. He was a real pro. :silly:

9. If the idea appeals to you, it's likely you'll LOVE it.

It's a "Brave New World" experience, imho ... much in the sense that Miranda uttered those words. No other experience quite matches up. I've really enjoyed bungee-jumping, white-water, motorcycle rides, and a host of other activities. Scuba diving is special, though.

On edit: ...
"O wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!

How beautious mankind is!
O brave new world,
That has such people in't!"
