Racism & Approval Ratings, Morning Joe -Style
Joey S. laid it all out for us this morning.
In sum:
Obama's approval numbers have dropped from ~75% to ~55%. Naturally, it would have to be that precise group of bodies who have fallen away who now make up the anti-Obama protesters and whom we accuse of racist motivation. It's nutty, of course, to think that people who recently supported Obama would suddenly become racists; ergo, what we're seeing from the teabaggers cannot be racism but sincere concern for the direction of the country.

Mika and Pat agree with his irrefutable logic.

 :wtf:

--Gidney, watching the hard stuff so you don't have to.

1. I've seen some of my co-workers
who were enthusiastic about President Obama six months ago change to not liking the job he's doing. Maybe if he had his own team write legislation to send over to Capitol Hill, instead of blindly cheering on anything Congress itself writes would give them more confidence in the President's leadership.

3. But are these people now teabaggers waving around racist signs?
Are they walking around your workplace demanding, "where's the birth certificate"?

I'm sure the answer to that is "no". The people who have fallen off the Obama bandwagon and the racist teabaggers are completely different people.

7. That's true, they are not off the deep end
But I'm certain that the baggers didn't ever have a nice thing to say about President Obama.

4. It is the job of the legislative branch to write the bills.
The basic setup of our government is not negated because Bush acted like a king.

8. I still think that leadership
requires setting forth basic principles, then letting Congress work out the details.

9. One of my coworkers and his family who didn't like him now do.
They are centrist Republicans and now that they listen to him instead of what Fox had to say about him, think he's a pretty smart guy and respect him a lot.

I don't know any Democrats who hate the job he's doing. Of course, there are things he could do better. But over all, most people I know are pretty darn happy with him.

I spent a few hours at a rally last Sunday with about 19,000 other people who enthusiastically support him. They were already cheering and screaming just seeing a picture of him at the airport on the arena's screen.

2. I've yet to see a sign in favor of Kucinich at a teabagger rally.
So that rules DUers out.

:eyes:

What foolish logic, but they're not the only ones who have come to this conclusion. Pundits seem to think these teabaggers represent some sort of a majority because their producers pay them so much attention. They honestly think that these people used to support Obama and now have turned into birthers and Glenn Beck fanatics? Wow. That's a special kind of stupid right there.

Obama's approval numbers have gone down because of liberal frustration with health care. Teabaggers have always been clueless and filled with hate. If they had the numbers to really affect Obama's approval rating, which I doubt they do, they've always been on the "disapprove" side.

5. You got it. But I don't think we can attribute this nonsense to "stupid."
At most I'll go willfully ignorant and I'll only allow that to the people who hear it and nod in agreement. The people trying to sell it (like the Scarboroughs and pundits further to the right of him) know better and are saying it anyway.

There is not that many of them and yet they get all the media attention.
