Huckabee and 5 Members of Congress To Attend Radical Right Wing Conference: How to Take Back America
Some of the scheduled workshops at the conference are titled, "How to recognize living under Nazis and Communists," and, "How to counter the homosexual extremist movement."

Via Email:

~snip~

At the end of this month, some of the most fringe players on the Radical Right are hosting a conference called How to Take Back America and currently scheduled to speak are five Republican members of Congress and, according to polls among Republicans, one of the most popular expected GOP presidential candidates, Mike Huckabee.

When I say that the people hosting this conference are on the outer fringe, that's actually something of an understatement. Some of the scheduled workshops at the conference are titled, "How to recognize living under Nazis and Communists," and, "How to counter the homosexual extremist movement."

Here's a little about just two members of the Host Committee:

Joseph Farah has been the most ardent and vigilant leader of the "Birthers," yet has also made the astonishing claim that President Obama's maternal grandmother might really be his mother. He recently eulogized Sen. Ted Kennedy by calling him "a rotten man -- a wicked man, an 'enemy within'" and wrote that President Obama was secretly advocating the destruction of the Jews. His web site WorldNetDaily is the epicenter of countless right-wing lies and conspiracy theories and routinely serves as a forum for zealots to espouse anti-gay hysteria.

Janet Porter has helped to promote some of the most paranoid conspiracies out there, like claims that the Obama administration is setting up internment camps for conservatives and plotting to commit genocide against Americans through the use of the swine flu vaccine. Before the election, she said that supporting Obama was akin to supporting Nazis and declared that anyone who voted for him would go to hell. She's also an active participant in spreading Birther lies.

Americans need to be aware of the resurgent Radical Right as well as its growing influence on government officials and the Republican Party.

From PFAW Website:
Why are five members of Congress and Mike Huckabee attending the How to Take Back America Conference with these Right Wing extremists:

Michael Farris is the founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association and Patrick Henry College, as well as the author of the Parental Rights Amendment.

Don Wildmon is Chairman of the American Family Association, the boycott-happy right-wing group that recently went after Miley Cyrus for Twittering her views that Jesus loves everyone, whether they are gay or straight.

Joseph Farah is the founder of WorldNetDaily, one of the main forces behind the "birther" movement and just about every other right-wing conspiracy.

Phyllis Schlafly of the Eagle Forum believes that married women can't be raped by their husbands.

Mat Staver is the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, the group that is still selling the "proud to be a right-wing extremist" cards, who, earlier this year at CPAC, declared that gay marriage would lead to an entire generation of violent criminals.

Rick Scarborough of Vision America recently traveled to Notre Dame to protest along with Alan Keyes and Randall Terry and, just last week, issued a statement decrying the administration's recognition of LBGT pride month, saying that gays have nothing to be proud of and that those "who engage in unnatural acts should hang their heads in shame."

Janet Porter of Faith2Action declared that anyone who votes for Obama will go to hell, has used her column at WorldNetDaily to advance the birther conspiracy against Obama and lead the fight against hate crimes legislation, dubbed the "Pedophile Protection Act", by inundating Congress with faxes, all while simultaneously leading the right-wing effort against the Department of Homeland Security report on right-wing extremism by launching an ad campaign demanding Janet Napolitano's resignation.

Why are elected officials legitimizing extremists by attending their conference?

22. I was curious about the "How to defeat Con Con" thingy
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 01:25 AM by Emit
Oh goody, another big distraction coming down the pike: :eyes: Phyllis Schlafly's name was mentioned somewhere in one of the pieces I read on line when looking into to this.

A public policy organization has issued an urgent alert stating affirmative votes are needed from only two more states before a Constitutional Convention could be assembled in which "today's corrupt politicians and judges" could formally change the U.S. Constitution's "'problematic' provisions to reflect the philosophical and social mores of our contemporary society."

"Don't for one second doubt that delegates to a Con Con wouldn't revise the First Amendment into a government-controlled privilege, replace the 2nd Amendment with a 'collective' right to self-defense, and abolish the 4th, 5th, and 10th Amendments, and the rest of the Bill of Rights," said the warning from the American Policy Center.

"Additions could include the non-existent separation of church and state, the 'right' to abortion and euthanasia, and much, much more," the group said.

The warning comes at a time when Barack Obama, who is to be voted the next president by the Electoral College Monday, has expressed his belief the U.S. Constitution needs to be interpreted through the lens of current events.

~snip~

Careful, it's World Nut Daily:
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=83364

Here's another, more recent, and even more unhinged:

BARACK OBAMA AND HIS ALLIES ARE TRYING
TO CHANGE THE U.S. CONSTITUTION:
HELP US STOP A NEW CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION!

Dear Friend,

Barack Obama and his allies are trying to change the U.S. Constitution WITHOUT FOLLOWING THE AMENDMENT PROCESS -- in fact, they're trying to rewrite the ENTIRE CONSTITUTION -- and they're close to succeesing!

What would you think if an amendment to the U.S. Constitution was introduced by liberal Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, which repealed the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights -- taking away our right to Free Speech?

What would you think if an amendment to the U.S. Constitution was introduced by liberal Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, which repealed the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights -- taking away our right to Keep and Bear Arms? (A right that the U.S. Supreme Court recently upheld!)

"That could never happen," you say. "No one would allow it!" Right? Well...

Did you know that there are TWO ways that our Constitution can be changed? And did you know that Pelosi, Reid and Barack Obama are using the less well-known way, without having to actually introduce amendments?

IT'S TRUE -- and WE have to stop it NOW!

26. They think homosexuals want to recuit others to their cause & take over America and the World
because that is what *they* themselves want to do. Or maybe they just mean the homosexuals who don't want to be stoned to death along with the astrologers, women who aren't virgins when they marry, and incorrigible teens: http://www.talk2action.org/story/2008/1/25/01345/0733

Epitomizing the Reconstructionist idea of Biblical "warfare" is the centrality of capital punishment under Biblical Law. Doctrinal leaders (notably Rushdoony, North, and Bahnsen) call for the death penalty for a wide range of crimes in addition to such contemporary capital crimes as rape, kidnapping, and murder. Death is also the punishment for apostasy (abandonment of the faith), heresy, blasphemy, witchcraft, astrology, adultery, "sodomy or homosexuality," incest, striking a parent, incorrigible juvenile delinquency, and, in the case of women, "unchastity before marriage."

According to Gary North, women who have abortions should be publicly executed, "along with those who advised them to abort their children." Rushdoony concludes: "God's government prevails, and His alternatives are clear-cut: either men and nations obey His laws, or God invokes the death penalty against them." Reconstructionists insist that "the death penalty is the maximum, not necessarily the mandatory penalty." However, such judgments may depend less on Biblical Principles than on which faction gains power in the theocratic republic. The potential for bloodthirsty episodes on the order of the Salem witchcraft trials or the Spanish Inquisition is inadvertently revealed by Reconstructionist theologian Rev. Ray Sutton, who claims that the Reconstructed Biblical theocracies would be "happy" places, to which people would flock because "capital punishment is one of the best evangelistic tools of a society."

8. These fucking people
really are looking for a civil war redo. There is really no doubt in my mind.

Ugh, and just thinking of Fuckabee gives me the creeps. My mother was flipping through the channels the other day, of course she doesn't really flip but rather stops on every single damn channel, eventually getting to 26, which is Faux News in my neck of the woods. Of course, I was out of the room for a moment but when I returned it was the "Fuckabee Hour" or whatever the hell they call his show. She doesn't really know what is going on and I usually have to scold her when she ends up on that channel. I think she was interested because he had that Paula Deen (Dean?) woman on from the Food Network. My god, she was painted up like a damn hooker, it was frightening. And do you think they were discussing food? NO. They were talking about Jesus. Oh, I just wanted to barf all over the screen, and I couldn't change the channel fast enough. Oh, and by the way, I always thought her shows were terrible too, but now I have a non culinary reinforcement to back up my dislike for her.

24. Bachmann is a Rep - not a Senator (I guess we should be thankful!)
I can't see the point in calling her office. They probably helped organize this whole event.

She has said a lot of crazy shit, and regularly features in the "Psycho Talk" segment on The Ed Show (msnbc).

Many of her craziest statements are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michele_Bachmann

15. They still don't get that they've lost the argument on "Teh Gay Agenda".
Twenty years they kept their minions on outrage overload over "Teh Gay" and lost a whole generation of future hatriots. Sure there are some hold-outs, but for the most part, everyone under the age of 35 is all "Yawn" over "Teh Gay".

As for the Nazi meme, well, you can't fix stupid. I guess it actually would kill them (at least their movement) if they read a history book or two or consulted a dictionary every now and then instead of making up their own (woefully ignorant) definitions. That's the same tactic they use in "interpreting" Bible verses.

And, speaking of Bible verses and hypocrisy, when is the seminar on adultery? What is the best type of rock for a good old-fashioned stoning?

Is there any wonder they decry evolution? As a species, they're close to extinction and terrified at the prospect that the theory may be scientific fact.

My prediction was that he would just organize his own conference for the topic.

So, what do I win?
