Are members of the Democratic Party really wasting their time?
On Joe Fucking Nobody Wilson?
Every second spent on this fucking chump is a wasted second. Every once of political capital spent could be going to health care, or ending one of the wars, or job creating policies.

This fucking bickering has got to stop, And it's not going to if the Democratic Party, and its followers, spend all their time playing "neener-neener" politics.

I think a majority of America thinks the right wing of the Republican Party is way out of touch. If we play petty politics with these tools, we're going to get ourselves in shit-smear.

Fuck that. It does nothing for the party. More importantly, it does nothing for our agenda.

When he waste our time trying to win these hyper-partisan shitstain political squabbles, we hurt our ability to win the larger, important issues.

1. This is towards health care and the larger issues.
An asshole in Congress disrespected the President during a speech on health care. Hitting back on Wilson, bloodying him up is important. The Dems are saying they are serious. Repukes will only get worse. They need punishment.

10. Why does that matter?
He disrespected the President?
Says who?
We are all supposed to bow to someone because they are president?

I was born in Canada, and people got nasty in the House of Parliament all the time.

Wilson's comments didn't HURT anyone.

Continuing to harp on it, for a week now, does more damage to the discourse than little outburst.

13. Says who? The rules of Congress.
It is about the escalation. As Barney Fife would say, 'Nip it in the bud'.

2. I don't know
I'm glad Carter said what he did. He's not running for office and he has nothing to gain. He told a truth that we needed to hear. He told a truth that these teabaggers needed to hear. They can lie to themselves - but I can't be lied to. I won't be lied to.

Truth be told at last. Now - the next time I'm confronted by one of those thugs face to face - I intend to throw Wilson's name out there. I intend to throw it out there for the duration of this administration. Those people always get 'flustered' - at minimum it will shut them up so we can go about our business and on our merry way.

3. The democrats need to forge forward.
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 08:10 PM by RKP5637
I think the democrats are wasting too much time with the republicans, the party of NO. The democrats need to move forward with why they won congress and the presidency. They give too much time to the right wing discontent and the more attention they get the more it emboldens them. The democrats need to get the job done!

I also agree with what Carter said. I'm pleased he said it. The right wing tea baggers are out of control. It's a shame the media in this county focuses more often on these tea bagger morons than the issues. Cable News is for the most part the best friend of the right wing. The media loves to harp on the obnoxious right wing groups... people thrive on this and it sells air time. I think the resolution on Wilson was a good thing. At some point these people need to be disciplined. We don't need the tea bagger mentality in congress.

4. Not a waste of time. It has to be entered into the congressional records
for historical reasons. IMHO

5. I agree.
I don't see why every one is upset about this.

If you let Wilson's outburst slide, you are negating over a hundred years of Congressional precedent regarding decorum.

I would have been PROUD of any Democrat who did that to Bush.
I know it.
And I know many of us would have been.

6. This didn't take much time. If Wilson was so concerned about time he could have ended it quickly.
He was never really sorry and resented having his arm twisted to make a pseudo-apology.

12. How much time have Democrats on this board
And on talk radio (what little there is), and on MSNBC, etc, spent arguing over this, while there are still so many UNKNOWNS about what Obama and Pelosi have planned for health care?

Seems to me that going after Wilson is just bullshit politics.

WHo fucked over the country more? Joe Wilson, for shouting Liar? Or Bill Clinton, for NAFTA?

8. If you still have time you might want to edit once for ounce...
I have no interest in neener-neener politics as that isn't what the right wing does. I am interested in taking every opportunity to punch them in the face and play uber hardball, as that is what they do and the only behavior that they understand.

I disagree, when these assholes get away with their assholery with no repercussions, they are perceived as the tough ones, and the Dems, trying to be decent, are viewed as weak. Wilson is aligning himself with the lunatics of the right, and because he is an elected official, gives them a degree of credibility that they don't deserve.

Smack him, smack them, then if need be, step on their necks....gently of course.

14. Wilson's Done...History...Fini...
He was rebuked on the House floor and now goes back into the "white noise" that is the rushpublican party. There's sure to be another outrage, another display of racism, another bright shiny toy for the talking heads to babble on about. Wilson's 15 minutes are up for now. He broke House rules and has been dealt with.

Playing the "equivelency" game...on either side is mental masturbation. Wilson's rebuke had nothing to do with that...took up all of less than an hour of House floor time with most of the yaking being done by rushpublicans who wasted verbage on their agenda or lack of one.

There's little the House can do about Health Care until the Senate passes out some kind of bill...they've done their work already. All this bullshit about "they could have done health care" is a talking point with no merit. Yes, there's other things to get done...and now they will...unless the rushpublicans try to obstruct with another dog & pony show.

15. Right on target! These jerks need to be held accountable and responsible!
The Rush Dumbo and Beck crowds, tea baggers and the rest, Fox News morons, jerks like Wilson and the like need to be held accountable and responsible when the opportunity arises. The BS needs to be stopped. Free speech (to me) also implies accountability and responsibility. At the very very minimal if this is a civilized society there needs to be a level of civility in congress at a presidential address.
