meet tim bagwell- d il 19. remember shimkus? mark foley's/house pages
supervisor. meet his opponent, hopefully.

On 29 August I began my petition drive to challenge John Shimkus in the race for the Congressional seat in Illinois’ 19th Congressional District. I have met with committeemen and women and the key counties and have distributed my petitions to the 30 Democratic County Chairs in the district.

On Tuesday September 8, John Shimkus, a former Army officer, turned his back on his Commander-in-Chief. Mr. Shimkus did this dramatically and publicly as President Obama addressed the nation and Congress. Frankly, I believe Shimkus meant it to be the attention getting event that would dominate the news cycle. However, his fumbling colleague from South Carolina stole some of that thunder by yelling at our President "you lie."

Both of these men deserve to be removed from office. I need your help to do that to John Shimkus. Please contact my campaign and consider a contribution.

5. I Raised You...
Just threw a C Note in his kitty with hopes of helping further should he make it into the general next year.

Shimkus is a real asshat whose been in and around the stench of GOOP scandals but has skated under the radar.

Mo...I suggest getting this over to DKos...if they don't have it already. That's where the bomblets really drop.

Cheers..

:hi:

9. shimkus was in charge of the house pages when
mark foley was stalking boys, sending them dirty e-mails from a computer on the house floor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Foley_scandal

shimkus was shown at the time to be aware of the improprieties, but nonetheless lauded foley for his dedication to the little kiddies, and let him continue being highly involved in activities with the pages.

aside from that, shimkus is your average usually unopposed rethuglican scumbag.

11. ok, i see you.
sent another $50. now come on people. i don't want to hear that kossacks can raise the dough. du can raise the dough.
and i know that there are a bunch of chicagoans here, as well as people stuck out in the red regions. shimkus at least deserves a real run for his money.

14. ok, one more kick.
gotta get some work done, damnit.

please give us a knr, tho, folks. this is a blue state. we just need to get some quality candidates on the ballot in some of these districts.

and btw, in that vein-i do not know tim bagwell, although he has some high quality friends, which is how i found him on fb. but i do know julie hamos, who is running for congress in the 10th cd, against mark kirk. there is really no reason for this seat to stay in republican hands. this is the last bastion of the sane republican. which is to say, ones that are ready to voice their objections to the company of raving lunatics in their party. julie is a really great candidate, and has been a fine state rep for many years. she is very liberal, and hard working. she was about the only grownup in springfield for a while there. she will be a terrific congresswoman. so, you could give her a hand, also.

15. He will need all the help he can get
I'm from that area. It is some of the reddest parts of Illinois. It will not be easy to defeat Shimkus simply because he is a republican. There are people in areas of So. IL who HATE Chicago politicians and Obama was one of them. Bagwell will have an uphill battle to say the least.

16. well, seems to me
that there are plenty of folks from equally lopsided blue districts that need something to do. jan schakowsky pretty much has to roll out of bed in the morning to get re-elected. she is pretty good about spreading it around. i think she will be spending some time in 10 trying to get julie hamos elected. but maybe she will be able to spread it a little farther.

and just sayin'- a lot of people hate what they think chicago politicians, and pretty much anything else chicago, are. but they don't really know. most of them never come here, have no idea what it is like, and think that channel 2 news is what it is like here. they don't know. don't don't. i was raised in the outer burbs. been dealing with it in my own family.
there has to be a way.
