9/11 "It's as if we invaded Mexico after Pearl Harbor."
Remember that line from Kerry when we invaded Iraq.
It's a funny line but that is what we did. My nation invaded a country without cause.
For me 9/11 brings anger. Anger at George Bush and Rudy Giuliani for usurping the attack. Making it as if it was about a personal attack on them and using it for there own ends.
Bush was in a school in Florida when it happened. I had friends in the towers and others living nearby. Fuck him!
It is hard to reconcile the harm that was brought to this country in the name of 9/11 with the tragedy that happened.
I feel shame and regret, and anger.

1. I get your point
but the example used ( by Kerry) is flawed. As any good historian will confirm, 9/11 is very much like Pearl Harbor. It turns out, we were then also
seeking a way into a war. It was known that the attack was to occur. And by letting it occur, we had reson to get into wwII. Sound familiar?

2. Without getting into the "did FDR know" controversy
It's still a good analogy by Kerry. In WWII we DID go to war with those who attacked us and their allies.
After 9/11, we resembled Germany's invasion of Czechoslovakia or Poland.
And it makes me seethe with loathing at the Bushites.

6. Totally false
We did not know when or where the attack was to occur, only that it was imminent. Warnings reading "THIS IS A WAR WARNING" were sent to all our Pacific garrisons on Nov. 27th, 1941, including those as far away from Japan as the Panama Canal. The book "Day of Deceit" by Stinnett which lays out the allegations against Roosevelt is so contradictory it's not even worth thinking about except that his accusations against FDR are so shocking they need to be refuted.

10. Uh huh.
Not according to what I learned in the Military, and it wasn't from some anonymous poster on DU.

We knew, and we let it happen.

11. Enlighten me
On the other hand, you don't have to take my word for it. Read Stinnett's book. All of the evidence he presents argues against his case. If you read it, I'm sure you'll be able to see it for yourself.

4. makes me angry too.
and my anger increases when it seems that there will be no reckoning for the war criminals, who used the 9/11 event (bush's trifecta) to convince us to attack iraq.
and the un-investigated questions about the 9/11 attack infuriate me also.
its like living in a science fiction novel.
black is white and up is down.
our government asks a lot of us.
how much are we each indentured for? or is indenture the correct term for someone who never can pay off the debt demanded by the landlord?
iraq was/is a corporate sponsored war and so the corporate media did its part to set the tone.
when the anti-war demonstrations in DC were televised nationally the film clips shown to viewers suggested a low turn-out, lack-luster crowd. this made a big impression on me since i had been watching various live feed traffic cameras in the capital and the demonstrators filled pennsylvania ave for as far as the eye could see. the crowd was huge and remained huge all afternoon and evening.
what happens is staged or co-opted to aid the causes of the hyper-rich and its never good for the rest of us.
we are a pretty abused population.

5. "My nation invaded a country without cause."
Slight correction.... it was TWO countries without cause. Afghanistan didn't attack us either, regardless of all the rhetorical Bushshit to the contrary.

You're not alone Bother Ed.

We are Legion.

To be fair his is what we had to deal with:

But still we should not have caved so easily. We all did. Dealing with that hurts me the most.

Forgive me please..
