Romney sidesteps question on abortion-ultrasound plan
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/04/14/romney_sidesteps_question_on_abortion_ultrasound_plan/

LEXINGTON, S.C. --Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Friday sidestepped questions about a South Carolina plan to require women seeking an abortion to view an ultrasound, a proposal one of his Republican rivals has embraced.

The former Massachusetts governor declined to offer his opinion of the state legislative measure.

"I am pro-life and I support pro-life legislation," Romney said after a speech to about 50 small business leaders. Romney said he would like to see each state be able to make its own law with regard to abortion.

"I think the Roe v. Wade one-size-fits-all approach is wrong," he said.

1. Possibly Romney can persuade rightwing Republican primary voters
that he's their guy.

But I'm thinking he's got his work cut out for him.

Abortion alone could be an issue -- he's done some serious flip-flopping on that.

Same with same-sex issues.

And then there's the reluctance on the part of some voters to cast a vote for a Mormon.

And what exactly is he putting in his hair, for god's sake? Walrus semen?

2. Walrus semen---Ewwwww! But seriously, his wife is an attractive,
well-coiffed lady. Why does she seem to have no input on his distracting overuse of "Dapper Dan" Hair Pomade?

3. Good question. Hi, wienerdoggie. I have no idea. She does seem
to be a pretty ok soul. I've got no problem with her, but my god her husband is total creepshow.

5. Hi, Old Crusoe--She's his best asset, I think. He'd better trot her out at every stop!

6. Yep. I keep wondering when his poll numbers will peak and then
start to drop.

He's done more flip-floppin' than a flapjack on hotbutton rightwing issues.

7. I don't think I have ever seen a picture of her...
but I picture a Stepford Wife crossed with a 6-year old, all whored up for the under-7-division of the Miss Sego Lily Pageant.

8. She looks a little Stepford-wifey, but she is pretty impressive in
interviews, and comes across (to me) as warm and friendly. They seem like a good pair together--let that be the nicest thing I ever say about MittWitt.

4. But anyhoo, back to the matter at hand...I think he sidestepped
the question quite nicely, considering that SC ultrasound law is about the most ASININE idea I'd ever heard come of out the lifer crowd--sure, why not subject these women, who are making a terribly difficult and emotional decision, to even MORE torment before they ultimately decide to abort anyway? Let's cause MAXIMUM heartache and psychological conflict in the name of "saving" maybe a handful of babies at best. Saving them for what fate? Who the hell cares? Mitt's one-size-doesn't-fit-all nonanswer, unfortunately, was pretty smart.
