Tomorrow, the Dream of the Beatles will be introduced to a new generation.
The message will not die. The message of Peace. The message of reaching out to your brother or sister. The message that we are all in this together, and that Love is All You Need.

As Ringo said, the Butterfly will fly once again.

Yep, it may be just another game and just another marketing ploy.....

But beyond marketing and profit motives...

The dream lives on...

Strawberry Fields Forever is possible: All you need is Love.

It is still true today as it was decades before.

The real question is, "when will we learn?"

14. Apple is having a big music-related announcement on Wednesday
It's widely rumored that, yes, the Beatles will be available on iTunes.

Of course, why this matters, I'm still not sure. If you want to listen to the Beatles on your iPod, just rip that CD you already own, since you're such a big Beatles fan that you're complaining they're not on iTunes.

Hard to believe that it's been 22 YEARS since the Beatles CDs first came out. They were really "late" for some reason, probably due to rights and hopefully taking the time to do the digital masters properly. Guess they've either finally got them right, or needed to go back to the well one more time.

23. All of the CD's have been remastered - released 9/9/09 (NUMBER 9, NUMBER 9, NUMBER 9)
Pre release reviews say they sound excellent = basically master tape quality.

44. Lennon's number 9 connection:
Lennon was born on 9 October 1940, his son Sean was also born 9 October, 1975. He wrote the songs #9 Dream (part of Lennon's ninth solo album Walls and Bridges which was released in the ninth month of 1974 and peaked at number 9 in the US charts) and with the Beatles - One After 909 and Revolution 9. He lived in apartment number 72 on 72nd Street in New York and was killed in the evening of December 8 when it was already early morning of December 9 in his birthplace of Liverpool.

22. The most recent CD release by Capitol of the "American versions" of their albums was like that.
It's really annoying because I bought it and put it in my iTunes, and now whenever I listen to it on my iPod, I hear the vocals in just one ear and the instruments in just the other ear.

The good thing is, at least they did include the mono mix of each of those albums too, so if you'd rather listen to that, you can. It's just that I downloaded the stereo versions into my iTunes because I foolishly thought they'd be "better." But they're damned annoying to listen to with earbuds.

Now, the later Beatles stuff, with a true stereo mix--that's cool to listen to that way. One of my favorite things about "Here Comes the Sun" is that swooping synth(?) sound that comes in right after George starts out singing to the solo guitar and that goes ZOOOOOOOOM right from one side to the other. When you listen to it with earbuds or a headset, it feels like an aural version of a rainbow swooping right over your head.

25. Well, that Capitol Box Set was designed to reproduce the Capitol Albums, added echo, mix and all
So it makes sense that it sounds like that.

That is pretty much how we heard the Beatles back then!

Anyway from the article I read, it sounds like the remasters tried to respect the sound of the originals but did not slavishly follow them. I have no idea what that will mean for the first few albums.

Although it is beyond comprehension to me that there are people who don't know their music, I suppose there are a handful of younger people who don't. ;)

Here is one young man who gets it. If you haven't seen this please do, it actually made me weepy.

39. He didn't sell them, he just took out a loan against them.
Here is from the Wikipedia:

Reports of financial problems for Jackson became frequent in 2006 after the closure of the main house on the Neverland Ranch as a cost-cutting measure.<127> One prominent financial issue concerned a $270 million loan secured against his music publishing holdings. After delayed repayments on the loan, a refinancing package shifted the loans from Bank of America to debt specialists Fortress Investments. A new package proposed by Sony would have had Jackson borrow an additional $300 million and reduce the interest rate payable on the loan, while giving Sony the future option to buy half of Jackson's stake in their jointly owned publishing company (leaving Jackson with a 25% stake).<96> Jackson agreed to a Sony-backed refinancing deal, although details were not made public.<128> Despite these loans, according to Forbes, Jackson was still making as much as $75 million a year from his publishing partnership with Sony alone.<129>

------
It's me again - recent estimates on news stories after Michael's death put just his 50% share value anywhere from $600 Million - $1 Billion.

42. Hmmm. Mortgaged to BOA and Sony having an option to purchase...
So I guess Jackson's estate does "own" the 50% stake still, but it does not control it, and may or may not profit from its current valuation (what is the option price? I've no clue...)
