Resisting - not repressing - sexual desires leads to self-knowledge

By JOHN FREEMAN
MODERN psychology tells us, and indeed, our entire culture seeks to convince us, that it's not good to repress or deny our sexual urges and desires. They're seen by many as simple biological needs that demand expression; it's seen as unhealthy not to seek that expression.

Now that might be true, were it not for the fact that sex really is never about "us." It's about the other person.

Ideally, it's about bringing all of who we are as male or female to bless someone else. As archaic as it may seem, the Bible tells us that sex most aptly blesses others and reflects God in the context of marriage between one man and one woman.

Where does this leave the unmarried? Well, it leaves them dependent on God to meet the desires they might otherwise seek to fulfill through sex. This is also the case for married folks who deal with corrupt desires.
*************snip****************

Here's the best part: our papers have been taken over, as some of you may know, by a RW consortium. they are now in bankruptcy and started a movement in the paper to publicize "LOCAL OWNERSHIP" replete with stickers, etc for your office or home. This is the RWers method of scaring off bidders by poisoning the well, so to speak. They have vilified 'out-of-towners' as though they would, or could, possibly do a WORSE job of running our papers/website. During their tenure, they've let almost all the quality reporters go, closed all the bureaus for which the Inky was famous, and HIRED Rick Santorum and John Yoo. Can you imagine this?

We're screwed here in Philly...

1. The author of that piece is exactly correct.
I can personally attest that every woman I've ever had sex with, cries out "Oh God, Oh God!" at various times throughout the experience. I guess they were just informing me of their dependence on God to fulfill their desires!

 :spank:

6. Obviously, This Does NOT Belong In the "News" Section of the Paper
Otherwise, I don't have any problem with the idea of a people reading a column explaining the difference between recognizing and urge and resisting it, vs suppressing it. It's how I quit smoking.

If you took "God" out of the equation, I'd agree with most of what the writer has to say.
