1. Animals have more rights than children
in this country. Sad isn't it?

12. not really - legally pets are still treated as "property" in many states.
If someone harms or kills your pet, you can generally recover only the cost of the vet care and/or buying a new pet. If someone harms your child, there is far more consequence.

People don't get arrested for abandoning pets. Abandoning children? A very different matter.

Veterinary care is also much less expensive than comparable care for humans.

If you fail to take your dog or cat to the vet soon enough, even when you can easily afford it, and they die, you don't go to jail. Possibly you are arrested if it can be shown that you abused the animal. *Very different* law regarding children.

4. The problem is they will do that. Require everyone to purchase insurance.
And the way it sounds it will be a policy that has a co-pay of 35% on Top of Premium payments

5. The way it sounds?
Is that speculation or is that actually in one of the bills?

8. I have not read the Bill nor do I believe anyone has but it was reported
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 10:31 AM by Winterblues
on both Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow that the change was in the Bill being considered in the Senate..They went into quite a bit of detail on it and even brought up the comparison of the Casinos in Vegas. they for instance only take 18% as their share, about half of what the Insurance Companies will be allowed.

9. Ugh...
I hope that's the Finance Committee's bill and not the HELP Committee's... it's disgusting how much power $$$$ has in DC.

We need more Senators like Sanders and Feingold. Desperately.

7. He passed.
Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie, took him when they left because Socks didn't like Buddy.

11. Yep. Quite sad.
At least Socks lived a full life.

Then again, the Repubs would tell us we need not listen to Socks. After all, he was the Clintons' cat...say no more.
