Look at this racism coming from our public schools.

A Note on President Obama’s Speech

We have received some calls from members of the public expressing concerns regarding the nationally-televised speech President Barack Obama is scheduled to deliver on Tuesday, September 8, 2009.

Goochland County Public Schools respects the Office of the President, but we also understand that in this instance parents may object to their children taking part in this activity. As always, it is up to parents to determine participation.

Viewing the President’s speech is optional and parents may opt out by sending a note Tuesday with your student. We also ask that you confirm that the note has been received by contacting your school’s main office.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal or school administration.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Shouldn't this be seen in the same light if say, the principal wanted to address the school children? Come on, this is historic and they are going to allow some racist(yes, Goochland is right outside of Richmond, Va where the U.S. Civil War is being fought daily) parents to intervene in what should be a seen as an address by our nation's top education administrator to the public schools. What President Obama is going to say has implications on these children's future and yet some dumb hicks are going to intervene.

2. The real kicker is this part:
"but we also understand that in this instance"

"but we also understand that in this instance"

What's so different about this instance?

4. I wonder how many of those fugging racist administrators
and teachers held on to their jobs because of the Restore America Act.

Never have I seen such a display of racism and ignorance from an opposition party. Dems are allowing them to get away with this shit.

Add this to their any people health care fuckery and it's more than I can bear.

Start a site that lists these schools who choose to cave in to parents' ignorance and petition them to stop saying The Pledge (if they still do) and to take down the flag.

There should be NOTHING controversial in POTUS giving a motivational speech to students. THE RIGHT-WINGERS are politicizing it.

I'm sorry teachers and administrators are caught in the middle, but they (right-wingers) need to know they can't wrap themselves in the flag only when it's convenient.

Their patriotism only extends so far....and having respect for the black guy sitting in the Oval Office just isn't part of their cherry-picked patriotism.

Seriously. I can get a domain: taketheflagdown.com.

;)

Edit for clarity

15. I just worked myself up into a frenzy....AGAIN....over these idiots

Almost bought the domain allamericanhypocrites.com, with the intent to start listing not only all the right-wingers in the public eye, but those quoted in the various articles, talking about not wanting their children exposed to the President.

All the same people who went on and on and on for eight years about respecting the office of the president and, if you don't, you're not patriotic and you don't love your country.

Hypocritical asswipes, each and every one.

But I need to quit letting them work me up like this or I'll have a heart attack.

And I don't have healthcare!!!!

Seriously!

I just sent an email to the Principal expressing my hope that my son will be allowed the time and opportunity to watch this speech. I also asked for a reply to my request.

16. Is that anything like kids/parents wanting to opt out of pledge of allegiance or a bush speech?
Cause I would rather my daughter watch Sesame street than bush (If she went to a public school, is home schooled).

I don't see the harm in giving parents options when it comes to politics/religion/and the like.

17. I remember something that was said a while back about "being invited by the pResident"
and that the person invited said something to the effect of "Well, you may not be 100 % for him, but how do you turn it down?"

I guess that, when it's Bush doing it, you pretty much have to go ... or you aren't a "real American" ... but if it's a Dem ... you're a "real American" for refusing ...
