Regent University graduate and fringe right wing asshole leads Virginia governor's race
Bob McDonnell ...... read the story at this WaPo link:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/29/AR2009082902434.html

Here's a link to a PDF of his 1989 Master's Thesis (Caution - gets you the PDF download):

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/documents/McDonnell_thesis_082909.pdf?sid=ST2009082902758

Please keep in mind. He wrote this when he was 34. Not some young man who was "just a college student".

You all remember Regent University, right? Monica Goodling. The true believer army that infected (and still infects) our Justice Department, our JAG corps, the legal departments of our myriad governmental agencies. THAT Regent University.

This is Pat Robertson Central. Religionut Headquarters.

Twenty years ago they determined to invade our government with their religiostormtroopers. Bob McDonnell is one of them.

McDonnell has said he "doesn't wish to talk about social issues." He says he'd rather talk about government issues. Oh sure. Of course you don't want to talk about it ::wink wink:: ::dog whistle:: ::religiocode::. You'd rather HIDE who you are.

1. Deeds needs a surrogate to pounce on this.
This won't play well in NoVA, but it may not hurt McDonnell in the rest of the state, unfortunately.

2. Reagan "gently" chastized working women in the 80s for taking jobs that kept legions of men
unemployed.

3. It's going to take twenty years of Democrats to root these freaks out..
of the DOJ. It's disturbing to hear they are getting into elected office on the State level. Most of them are appointed on the federal level. They have been imbedded into all types of jobs in federal government. Some cannot be rooted out and will be there forever.

4. Regent gave him a master's for that twaddle?
Damn, I went to the wrong school. I can generate pure bullshit without breaking a sweat. I could have had a PhD in record time.

It's interesting he takes the 1954 cornflakes TV sitcom family as the norm, when in fact it was an aberration. It's also amazing that I'm a quarter through this rubbish and he has yet to cite wage depression as what pushed mothers into the workplace. Oh, no, it was that 1960s hedonistic evil feminism!

This is just another guy who wants to crawl into an idealized world as presented on TV.

By the way, Stinky, since I started using the Foxit Reader, .pdf files have stopped crashing my system. I recommend the switch.

5. That 1954 cornflakes commercial/Norman Rockwell perspective is why they tend to be .....
..... not only sexist, but also (at least) mildly racist. They can't handle the reality.

I have a Mac. No pdf crashes. ;)

7. McDonnell leads only because it's too early for voters in an off year - valuable post

They need to find this out too, and they will. The off years build at the end in VA.

There's contribution problems from the A.G. election McDonnell "won" in 2005 that will come
out too. Conservative Citizen Council donations, donations from people using illegal labor
while he opposed immigration ... but he was elected Attorney General so no investigation ensued.

Virginia has virtually no regulations on campaign donations. Thus, follow the biggest donors,
donations. They're stacked in Deeds' (D) favor, like rally in his favor. Watch as the press
unfurls this, the CCC ties, the guest worker-contractor ties and, oh, right to life. He'll be
out to lunch with most of Northern Virginia (where he lost to Deeds in the A.G. race only polling
33% or so) and his crappy record will motivate both black and women citizens to get out to vote.

It will be a precise and thorough tear down.

9. I hope the constituency that turned Virginia for Obama comes out for Deeds, too.
I'm not sure Deeds is the best candidate. My own favorite was Brian Moran.

But your point is well taken.

10. You nailed it Stinkey - McDonnell is finished, this was the coup de gras
Edited on Tue Sep-01-09 01:28 AM by autorank
There's more, as I said, but this is enough. Northern
Virginia is the political power in the state in terms of
voters. It's trended liberal - even with 3 of the top 10
wealthiest counties in the US (it's all relative;). It's the
capitol of 2 career couples. So McDonnell has now pissed off
50% of Northern Virginia.

Here are his state numbers from 2005 running for A.G.:

Office: Attorney General
Precincts Reporting: 2582 of 2582 (100.00%)Registered Voters:
4,448,852
Total Voting: 2,000,052 Voter Turnout: 44.96 %

Candidates Party Vote Totals Percentage
R F McDonnell Republican 970,886 49.96%
R C Deeds Democratic 970,563 49.95%
Write Ins 1,801 0.09%

Here's Northern Virginia

FAIRFAX COUNTY
Precincts Reporting: 231 of 231 (100.00%)
Total Totes: **273,358** Voter Turnout: 44.77 %
 Candidates Party Vote Totals: Percentage
  R C Deeds Democratic 154,431 |57.71%|
  R F McDonnell Republican 112,943 |42.20%|
  Write Ins 238

Alexandria City 34,432 Votes Deeds 70%
Arlington County 56,169 Votes Deeds 73%
Loudoun County 59,085 Votes Deeds 51%
Prince Wlm. Co 65,782 Votes Deeds 48%

So that's 25% of the State voting heavily for Deeds.
All we knew at that time was the CCC and other bogus
contributions and the fact that he was chosen by
Pat Robertson and Falwell. Now we know he sees
women as inferior,etc.

McDonnell won the A.G. race by just 300 or so votes.
Diebold and AVS voting machines carried him
way ahead of the top of his ticket, another right
wing extremist, in the havily populated urban
areas, which of course is ridiculous. He should
have trailed the ticket. But we know what
happened and it won't happen again. Check this out:
http://tinyurl.com/l2n7mg Your eyes only;)]

It's over. Deeds will win. But there will be
more to make sure that it happens.

yet they were swift to attack Justice Sotomayor for her 'old' papers.

Fucking hypocrites.

This douche FEELS this way, you don't change if you are a Puke. He is dangerous and I hope he gets his just rewards for thinking this way.
