Gen. Honore to Challenge Diaper David Vitter
http://bit.ly/3Ri9tT

Was this reported here yesterday? If so, apologies!

Retired Army General, the hero of NOLA, is seriously considering running in GOP primary against Vitter. Like the article says, he runs--he wins. He's a moderate, and actually would be better for us than that leader of the Blue Dogs, Dem Charlie Melancon.

1. Off topic but...
would Carville be better than Landrieu?

2. Jim Carville
Probably, but Carville probably couldn't get elected in Louisiana since the state is so conservative. Plus, Carville is probably more valuable on the outside anyway, as a campaign manager, commentator, and rallier.

3. I misread the headline.
for a moment I thought it was a goof....."Gon. Honorea to Challenge Diaper David Vitter".

I was willing to support it too. }(

Do you suppose the Gen. will use the "stuck on stupid" slogan?

4. Could be an interesting GOP Primary
Truthfully, I don't believe that the Republicans will nominate Honore. A lot of racial attitudes still exist in Louisiana.

Since the state has closed primaries, there won't be African-American registered Democrats crossing over to vote in the GOP primary. So essentially, the bulk of the Republican primary voters will be white, rural conservatives. Will enough of them be willing to vote for a black man who is a political moderate? I doubt it.

7. I think the key is that Honore
does not LOOK African-American, which crazy as it sounds, makes a difference. (When you see Jindal in person, he is very dark. I did not think the cons would vote for him, but they did.) Honore is also very Cajun, and Cajuns tend to vote for Cajuns, tho that won't wash in North Louisiana with the baptists. When looking at LA politics, one must always consider that N. LA and S. LA are very different, culturally, and before Katrina, they were very politically different. I'm just very interested because Vitter will either move leftward to counter Honore's centrism, or he will move even farther to the right (if possible) for contrast. If Honore picks up GOP nom, Melancon will have to move one way or another...he can't stay as conservatively "independent," because that also defines Honore. Interesting! Or not, lol

5. What's the deal with Metairie?
The article says that north LA voters are reluctant to vote for people from Metairie. Is it just a north/south thing, or is there something I'm missing?
