Thank you Senator Kennedy

For all that you did and all that you were! Without your support for Obama I don't know if we would have him in the white house today. I hope that in the end he proves to be worthy of your generous support.

You will be missed sir. Thank you for leaving us all far better off than you found us.

A day I will remember forever.

4. It breaks my heart that he will not be there
At a time when he could have been so influential in shaping the course of this country. This could have been such a shining moment for him. My heart weeps for the potential lost.

5. I'm hoping the tributes to him might touch some of the cold-hearted senators, touch them
enought to vote for Americans instead of their wallets.

3. I don't think that I could have said it better.

"Thank you for leaving us all far better off than you found us."

One winter when I was going through a very rough patch on my own as a young woman back in the 80's, I decided to go for a long walk to the museums in Washington, D.C. I was the only observer who stopped to watch ice skaters at a skating ring behind one of the museums. I always wanted to skate and I stood their absorbed by the movements.

Suddenly I heard, "Hello, young lady." I turned around to see who one of the skaters was speaking to and it was I  And then I realized it was Ted Kennedy. He started laughing and I return his greeting. Soon some tough looking guys in suits helped him off the ice. When he passed by he asked me, "Are you in school?" I said yes but it was difficult. And he said, "I don't care how hard it is. Stay there until you're finished." Then he was ushered off.

I'll never forget it. I needed that boost so badly and I can imagine that he knew exactly what to say to whoever he met
