ZRYTECH

I'm a male in my mid 50's. I started Zyrtec and Nasacort on the recommendation of my MD to deal with itchy, red eyes and other general allergy. Most other meds hadn't worked. These did and stopped the symptoms cold. However, I started noticing that I'd pretty much lost any desire to exercise and that I felt very lethargic in the mornings. I decided to drop the Zyrtec. The first day off, I had a mild case of hives. The second and third day I've had itching. I figured it had to something to do with Zyrtec so I started searching the internet and found this site. I don't plan on going back on Zyrtec unless I have a serious allergy flare-up. Even then, I may consider shots instead of meds.

Just started my six year old son on Zyrtec again. The dr. said he could take the adult pill now 10mg. The last few nights he has wakened with terrible nightmares/night terrors. And after reading these posts i remember taking him off for the winter (he was on the liquid 5mg) and i remember him always itching his arms and legs. i remember giving him oatmeal baths. Now i know it is from stopping the Zyrtec. I am calling the doc tomorrow about these nightmares. He was also on Singulair 4mg for 1 1/2 years then one year ago was upped to 5mg. Within one dose we noticed he was very depressed and cried easily. After a week called the doc about it, stopped it then had our son back in a few days. Will Never give Singulair again and now stopping Zyrtec. All these meds are so scary. A part of me feels these meds are created because it is a HUGE business. They have side effects then you have to take other meds for those side effects and it is a never ending circle i feel purposely created by pharmaceutical companys to make money. And we are all suffering because of their greed. Shame on them

Been on Zyrtec for 4+ years for allergies/asthma. Quit cold turkey ~3 weeks ago. Insane itching all over body. Feels like I want to crawl out of my skin. Scalp, torso, legs, shoulders and face itch all the time. If itch, then itching becomes more intense, red and hot.

My 2 year old daughter was prescribed zyrtec 24 hour infants formula and after giving it to her once it caused her to pass out and be unconscious for 30 minutes and was non-responsive. She was rushed to the hospital and is ok. She was only given the .5ml as prescribed and this was given the night before this occurred. It was an adverse after effect from the medication.

I will NEVER give my child Zyrtec again. This medication is not safe in my mind.

I been taking zyrtec in tha last 2 months since I ran out my benadryl and singular prescriptions. Doc so far away i grab counter stuff till i can get to the doctor.. I to been having funny things going on with rhythm of heart.>LIke a lurching feeling ! Not often.. But like a fluttering slow to fast, then the lurch .. Then it quits? Hard to dechifer all my meds.. I narrowed to nsaid naproxen, advair I started most recent, albuterol I started last year.. The hair loss I started getting faster and faster.. Got me to searching med side affects.. and ran across this site !

Wow! My husband and I have thought recently maybe I should stop using Zyrtec. Maybe it is causing my lethargy, weight gain, difficulty sleeping, inability to work for more than an hour doing anything, intense hunger. I have taken Zyrtec year round for several years since living in Santa Fe where I developed bad allergies. There I took it in conjunction with Nasonex. After leaving there I couldn't afford it so I switched to day hist but I started sneezing and had an itchy nose constantly. Sinus infections also. So I started Zyrtec full time a few years ago. I can't lose weight to save my life and have no energy. Depression-yes. I would never have thought I would experience that. My journals are full of it. But I thought it all was because of "the change" because I was under the impression there weren't any side effects. But I am all organic and still struggling with trying not to gain anymore weight. I have a terrible time just trying to clean one room without feeling wasted! I don't look forward to stopping but I have got to see if this is affecting me this way, Thanks to all. I want me back!

I have been taking a combination of Pataday, Zyrtec, Nasonex and Advil for the last 4 years for my seasonal allergies. After last years pollen season I found out that I could not get off Zyrtec due to itching. So I have been taking it ever since once every 3-4 days. Now that I found this site, I dont care if I itch for months, I am quitting. I will never again take a Zyrtec tablet in my life. I'd rather take a few weeks off and go south in May, then end up like this.

I just found out about the hives issue when going off Zyrtec. The incredibly annoying thing about this is that the reason I went on the Zyrtec is because of hives so now that I'm trying to see if my hives are gone by going off the drug I can't tell because that's the withdrawal symptom! I used to have to take up to TWO pills a day to deal with my hives and now I can go about three days since I started using traditional Chinese herbs (through a practitioner) to work on my hive issues. Part of me thinks that the herbs are working but it's impossible to know because of the withdrawal issues. I would not have taken this drug for hives if I had known that was what would keep me from being able to stop taking it. I'm really aggravated!

I have been taking Zyrtec for about a month to treat my seasonal allergies. I have noticed about once a day a shortness of breathe and my heart is beating very weird. I thought this was all in my head but now I am not so sure. Has anyone else experienced this? If so did it stop after stopping the medicine?

I have been taking Zyrtec for about three months. Doctor suggested I take it for a month after bad sinus infection. I was still all choked up after a month so I kept taking it.... I also take an antidepressant, Citalopram, that I've been taking for years. I have wondered since taking Zyrtec if there are any long-term side effects. After reading the postings above I found several symptoms I've been experiencing lately that others contribute to Zyrtec. I stopped taking Zyrtec tonight and will see if anything changes. I definitely have little energy and wake up with excruciating back pain, but I had a fair amount of back pain before I took Zyrtec. I have pain in my upper left arm that is getting worse each day. Heartburn at night. I had very weird dreams lately - I was on "drugs" that made me completely loopy, dizzy and out of it. I woke up dizzy and realized the dream was partly reality.
I have had some headaches and racing heart. I just thought I was getting old and falling apart!! We'll see...
Will keep you posted.

Medco spent $697K on lobbying government in 2Q
Associated Press, 08.21.09, 03:36 PM EDT

WASHINGTON -- Pharmacy benefits manager Medco Health Solutions Inc. spent $697,000 in the second quarter as it lobbied Congress and federal agencies on issues including health care reform and drug importation, according to a recent disclosure report.

Medco also lobbied on issues related to the HITECH Act, a portion of the economic stimulus bill that funded use of technology including electronic medical records, mail order pharmacy, which is a key component of Medco's business, and electronic prescribing.

2. Advair HFA side effects...FOX NEWS SUX!

Wow, I'm so glad I found this site!
I was diagnosed with pleurisy 2 and a half weeks ago following a virus, a few weeks before, so naturally, as my asthma nurse has always told me, I've doubled up my Advair (or Seretide as it's called here in the UK!) for that entire time.
Previously I was taking one puff once a day in an evening which I never had any problems or side effects with, it just controlled my asthma really well. Now I'm taking 2 puffs twice a day (morning and night) and for a few days now I've been having terrible joint pains in my hands, feet, elbows and knees. Have been searching the internet for what it could be and think I might have found the answer! Hopefully if I decrease my meds back down the pain will improve!
Like a lot of people on here, though, I was NEVER told about any potential side effects to Seretide, just that it was a wonder drug.

About 2 and 1/2 months ago I went to an urgent care facility since I felt like I was suffocating. I am a long time smoker (30 years) and have not had any problems with breathing accept for the occasional morning cough. Long story short, the doctor after hearing my breathing and taking 2 xrays said "you have a pocket of infection in your lung and COPD". I didn't realize it was that quick and easy to diagnose COPD and thought there were more extensive tests to prove that, but I went along with the doctor. The doctor prescribed Advair, an antibiotic, ProAir HFA (albuterol pump rescue inhaler), a decongestant and prednisone. I thought that was an extreme amount of medication but the doctor said she was being proactive. After a couple albuterol breathing treatments and a shot of steroids at the urgent care center I was on my way.

I finished the treatments of antibiotics and steroids as prescribed, but I never took the decongestant (did not want to over-medicate myself). Immediately after starting Advair my joints ached and I felt over all like I had the flu. With my 1 weeks checkup with the doc I mentioned this and she just smiled. About a week after that the achy joints starting easing up, but I started cramping in different muscles. For instance one week I would have a dull cramping in my leg that was persistent during the day and worsened at night. Then the leg stopped cramping, then the lower part of my back started in to a point it was hard to get out of bed, walk or bend over. Then when that stopped something else started up. Then during the last two weeks that I was on Advair I was having periodic chest pains, tightness in my chest, (once again) difficulty breathing, and my vision started to go (blurring)...that with the lower back pain. I am almost 50 years old and have been in excellent health my whole life, and honestly I have never felt as bad as I did while on Advair.

I stopped taking Advair 6 days ago. No, I did not call and ask the doctor's advice because I knew what the doc would say. The first day after quitting Advair I had restricted breathing so I used the rescue inhaler once. The breathing issue became better during the remainder of the day. Slowly the cramping in my body and chest eased up. Today (6 days later) my vision is back to what it was, no chest pains, occasional restricted breathing and will use the rescue inhaler during those times.

I think it's too early to know the long lasting affects of Advair, but at this stage in my life (unless I am worse off with my breathing than I am right now) I don't care to use the medication.

Wow!!! I can't believe it! I just found this site. I've actually been on Advair 500/50 for years now, about 7 years at least. Just as a bit of a background, I'm 24 years old, used to be extremely active, played water polo, was on the swim team, and was just overall very active in high school. I've had severe chronic asthma since I was 8 years old, so in order to help me stabilize my asthma, my critical care pulmonologist put me on Advair. It was a "miracle drug"! However, while my asthma was under control, I was experiencing all these other symptoms that everyone else has been talking about.
Anyway, to make things worse, I just talked to my (new) doctor and she told me that the Advair makes it so that some organ (I'm sorry, I don't remember the name) actually stops producing prednisone (or the same stuff that your body naturally produces itself to keep your lungs working correctly) if on it for long enough. It makes sense because for the first few years it was prescribed to me, I really only filled the prescription as I was getting sick as a backup, but other then that I was generally under control. For the last I'd say about a year, I've been consistent and used it regularly as the doctor actually prescribed, every day, twice a day, whether I was sick or not. Now, I can't go even a week without it, otherwise I'm in the hospital.
During the last year or so that I've been consistent with taking the medication, I've had major depression, gained 45 lbs, fatigue, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, heart palpitations, heartburn, leg pains, sore throat, sinus infections (we just finally decided I was just allergic to our animals and I've been on decongestants for pretty much the whole year, doing sinus flushes, etc and I'm still all stuffy!), unexplained bruising, crazy mood swings, muscle pains, headaches, heartburn, etc. I thought I was just completely crazy, I kept believing it was all in my head!!!
I'm going to my doctor today and asking her to prescribe me something else. The funny thing was, I was just on my way to the hospital b/c my doctor's been treating me for the last 3 weeks for vertigo accompanied by the heart palpitations and the nausea, she finally is giving up and is sending me to the emergency room. I figured before I went that route, I'd look into it myself. Go figure!

Boy can I relate to all of you. I have chronic bronchitis I think and adult onset asthma or is this lining of symptoms the side effects of advair. I live on albuterol as I keep thinking the advair is not working but keep taking ti 2 times a day. I have more breathing problems, the heartburn is a killer and now on Nexium for that.. My throat feels like it is closing up and the mucous stuck in my throat is a killer PLUS all the crap draining from my sinuses. This is all been going on sicne I started taking Advair. I found your site as I was looking to see if Advair was causing my visual problems. Yup, I think it is. This drug needs more warning posted all over it. I am off the damn med as of right now. Down the trash it goes.

First of all let me state that I stopped Advair (or Seretide 125 here in the UK) before I was aware of a plethora of potential side-effects.

I've had asthma for 4 years (male 39) and I started just over two years ago when I had a chest infection. Two days later I developed quite a bad pneumonia and ended up in hospital. Thankfully it cleared OK and I got out quickly enough. After that I continued with it. Around late summer last year I noticed my libido dropping off, bad sleep patterns (really tired at 10pm yet waking up at 2am and unable to sleep again), depressive episodes, mood swings and mental fogginess especially in the afternoon. Blood tests showed borderline low testosterone levels and I was referred to an endocrinologist early in 2009. A few tests later and I was no further forward but I started to suspect my adrenal function was poor. An ATCH stimulation test was done but it was "normal". I then had a tremendously bad depressive episode and went to the doctors. He offered me prozac until we got to the bottom of the issue but I declined as I suspect it would make things worse. I then started to analyze what had changed in my life and the only thing that had the potential was the Seretide. I then changed back to Clenil (beclomethasone) and the difference was like day and night. My sleep patterns immediately restored themselves and my mental state went back to normal. I also run up to 50 miles per week and suffered occasional cramps - I could even cramp at will by placing my lower leg in a particular place! Needless to say this has gone too. I now have another blood test next week and it'll be very interesting to see where my T levels are now.

I suspect that Advair/Seretide causes adrenal issues in susceptible people. Once your adrenals are out of whack then your thyroid and other hormonal systems start to get affected.

I was started on Advair HFA about 35 days ago. A little background about me is that I'm 35 years old, in good physical shape. I'm a competitive cyclists doing road races anywhere from 45-100 miles, I work out 2-4 hours everyday. I've had lifelong chronic asthma, but have fought the disease with my healthy lifestyle. I also play the saxophone.

Since I've been on Advair I've developed a constant sore throat. Been coughing up stuff constantly when I'm out training on my bike. Can't seem to sleep for more than a few hours at a time. The worst side affect has been the leg cramps which are killing my training for up coming races. I have constant leg cramps that force me to get out of bed over and over to work them out. My energy levels have dropped to the point that I can't do even half a workout without being totally wiped out. This is coming from a guy that averages 60miles a day on the bike, the other day I couldn't even do 15 miles and had to stop from the constant cramps and tiredness. This stuff is a nightmare. I've gone back to using nothing but my albuterol inhaler. I'll continue to do lung exercises 4 times a day and completely clean up my diet and basically get this stuff out of my system. Let this be a warning that you can't get something positive without something negative as well.

I've been on this med for 6 years. It was not until I started reading this site that I figured out that my problems might be related to Advair use. I've had sore joints/muscles for years. Terrible insomnia, in fact my doctor has me on prescription sleeping pills, but I still can't sleep. I've gained 50 lbs in five years. My eyes bother me continuously. I feel depressed for no good reason. The bottoms of my feel are so sore in the morning that I can hardly walk. I can't exercise - just too tired. (and I used to all the time).

I've recently quit taking advair - cold turkey, but I'm not sure if that's wise. It's been two weeks and today is the first day that I haven't felt very well. I'm wondering how long the body stores this stuff and if I should have weaned off more slowly.

Thanks for all your comments and for this site. What a blessing!

I was on Advair for a few months back in about 2005. I was taking it for asthma. I noticed after about a month of using it that I would have these severe asthma attacks if I came in contact with an irritant. Instead of minor coughing if I was near someone smoking my lungs would practically slam shut and I could not get any air. These were far more reactive and severe than I have had on any other meds or none at all. I stopped taking it, switched back to Flovent and the problem went away. A few months later the FDA announced the black box warning for Advair and that this was a possible severe side effect. They need to be more up front with patients about this risk so they can decide if it is worth using, I wasn't given that option.

I am so glad I found this site. I am sitting here with heart flutters that I have occasionally. I have had asthma since childhood and was placed on Advair about 10 years ago because it controlled my asthma much better. I have not felt normal since. I am 42 years old and I have experienced most the the symptoms described. I thought I was going through per-menopause, but that was not the case. I am so glad i found this site. I would have never link my leg cramps, migraines, hair thinning, fatigue, unexplainable bruising, forgetfulness and moodiness to ADVAIR! I am going off this stuff and back to my rescue inhaler. Thanks everyone!

I have been on advair for 2 years and am starting to experience headaches that last the entire day. It helps with my breathing difficulties and I am unsure if I can just stop taking the medication. Its really difficult for me right now and I'm starting to feel depressed about it. I'm not sure how I'll get through this.

I'm so glad I found this! I thought I was going mad for a while there. Background: I'm a 34 yr old female. Diagnosed w/ asthma at 12, but they suspect I had it before that. Used only Ventolin for a long time. Five years ago, right around the time I had my second child, my symptoms (and allergies) seemed to get much worse. We moved around that time, to a house with a HUGE Chinese elm in the backyard (which I now know I'm allergic to) and right next to a main freeway. Around this time, Dr. prescribed Advair 250/50 when he realized I was using Ventolin up to 6 & 7 times/ day. The first year, I actually felt so much better (I could BREATHE!!) that I think I wouldn't have noticed any side affects. Year two I had MAJOR hair thinning. Dr said "age and hormones". Following 3 years on it: Almost constant nasal congestion (despite always being on a decongestant), sinus infection, tonsil infections, laryngitis, TWO bouts of pneumonia in 3 years. Around the year mark on it, I did experience the depression and anxiety, however, I had had the "baby blues" with my first child and just thought it was a more severe version of that. Now, I feel CONSTANTLY "run down" and almost always have some low-grade infection (yeast, UTI, sinus, bronchitis...etc.), am always hoarse and am just waiting for another round of pneumonia. I also get dizzy A LOT. I am in the second day of a cold turkey quit and am looking for alternative diet/exercise therapies. Good Luck to everyone!

thought he may have a nervous problem or something because his dad works out of state and he misses him and maybe its
anxiety or something. And at night he
would grind his teeth so bad I thought he was going to brake one of them. And when I don't give him the advair at all that day he sleeps so good no teeth grinding , no waking up with leg pain no moving all over. My son is all most 9 and everyone things he is 5 I really think this stuff has did a number on my child I am going today to the Doctors again and telling them I don't want him on ADVAIR no more! MY son and my family has suffered to much over this stuff!

4. Goldengateway.com REVERSE MORTGAGES ARE A SCAM!

But make no mistake: Reverse mortgages, which come with high fees and hefty interest charges, are a costly option and often sold by aggressive salespeople who push inappropriate financial products on vulnerable seniors. That’s why Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) held hearings Monday in St. Louis on reverse mortgages. A year and a half ago, Sen. McCaskill began investigating problems associated with reverse mortgages, including predatory lending, aggressive marketing and the potential risks to the federal government — which insures 90% of reverse mortgage loans. Comptroller of the Currency John Dugan earlier this month said reverse mortgages bear a striking similarity to the risky sub-prime mortgages that got so many Americans in financial hot water. The Federal Housing Administration estimates it may lose $800 million from insuring these loans in the next fiscal year.

Man Fox News must hate their viewers. Why else would they try to stear then into mortgage SCAMS!

5. Ditech "Ditech ripped me off"
Edited on Mon Aug-24-09 11:32 AM by Joanne98
Ditech

Ditech.com, which contributes a big share of General Motors' profits lately, has left a lot of angry consumers by the side of the road, including those below:

Daniel of Woodhaven, MI August 22, 2009

I went to Ditech to apply for a loan and was pre-approved in September. Come October I found a HUD home that had been foreclosed on and was for sale AS-IS (meaning you are buying the property in the condition that it sits...no repairs or alterations will be done, period.) I placed & won the bid to purchase this home and that's when it all began. Upon the appraisal by Ditech, I was told that my loan could not be finalized until multiple repairs were made to the home such as...the replacement of light fixtures and air vents that were missing during the appraisal inspection.

Again as noted, the home was to be sold AS-IS meaning I was to purchase the home as it sat. After going round and round with Ditech they stood by their appraiser and said that they noted repairs had to be made in order for the loan to close. Well as per HUD I had no access to the home to make the reapairs myself, and HUD was not going to make them becuase...again...AS-IS sale.

Bottom line - DITECH gave me the run-around for several months and finally I ditched them the following January. Fifth Thrid bank earned my business and my trust with no issues at all. I'm sitting in the house now typing this story...needless to say DITECH BLOWS!

Andre of Miami Beach, FL July 1, 2009

Ditech froze my home equity credit line, despite the fact that I had consistently paid 800 a month when the minimum payment was only 329. After the freeze, I reduced my monthly payment to 500, still over 150 more than the minimum required payment.

They said that my material circumstances had changed, and that I needed to verify my income. This was clearly bogus, as I am and have been a university professor for six years and make 10% more than I did when I originally got the loan. I have no credit cards, and the only other credit accounts I have are student loans and an account with CareCredit for some dental work.

I verified my income. After which, they changed the reason for freezing my credit line, saying now that my FICO score had dropped. Admittedly, my FICO score may have dropped because of some student loan issues. But as I mentioned, I never ever missed a payment with Ditech, and always paid substantially more than the minimum payment. Besides, the circumstances show that it wasn't about my credit score or payment history or income. They are in financial jeopardy and don't have the money.

Thus, they lied, as my income was never the issue. They made it up as an excuse to freeze the account. If it was about the credit score, which they already had since they used it to freeze my account, then why did they ask me to verify my income? So they sent me on a wild goose chase for nothing.

The bottom line is, they don't have the money, and are in breach of their contract with me. There agents have also made several material misrepresentations, during the period I secured the loan and during this servicing process. This is obviously a pattern and ripe for a class action suit.

Damon of Wilmington, DE July 1, 2009

I previously applied for a mortgage with DiTech in 2006 and had no issues. I applied again with them in 2009. They assured me that they could close on my property within 30 days assuming I supplied them with all the necessary documentation. It has now been almost 45 days and we still have yet to close. They continuously ask me for the same documents that were already sent to them weeks ago (apparently they can't locate them). They scheduled an appraisal on my property which for some reason, did not get completed, and were not aware that their appraiser didn't complete it until I called 8 days later to check on the report. They then order it again and tell me it will be expedited (24 hours). 4 Four days later and it finally gets back to them. Today they call again and tell me they are "missing" documents and need me to resend to them which I do immediately. I rented my home out assuming that DiTech could close on the property within the 30 days. My tenant moved in after 42 days and I am now stuck living in a hotel waiting for these people to close on the property. When you call, you can never get an answer. The file is always being reviewed by someone.

Susan of Arvada, CO June 1, 2009

In November 2008, my husbands company had informed the employees that due to a merger of their company that there were going to be lay offs. We contacted both of our mortgage companies right away to let them know what was going on. Our 1st mortgage was wonderful, willing to work with us and try and help as much as they could. Ditech when contacted was rude and unwilling to accept any information. We ended up listing our home with a realitor to try and sell the home, but because the value of the home had dropped we had to offer a short sell option. Ditech again would not work with our realitors offers that were submitted. They kept asking for more and more money to settle the debt. Even though they were in 2nd position they would not take ANY offers making it VERY difficult to sell the house. My husband and I ended up having to move out of our home and relocate due to the lay off and have secured jobs again. However we are STILL trying to sell out home and are now running out of time. We are 3 days before the sell date for Foreclosure and still they will not accept any offers that have been made. They keep asking for so much money that there is no way that a buyer can pay for it. You would think they would be willing to take something rather than nothing if it goes to foreclosure. It is not that the offers are bad, but they will not even budge on what they will accept. They want all or NOTHING! They are forcing us to end up filing bankruptcy to even have a chance of a normal life again. There is no way that we can even salvage any type of agreement with them. NEVER again will I EVER finance ANYTHING with this company!

Barbra of Paramount, CA June 10, 2009

I have been with Ditech for about 11 years.Never been late.In July 08 I had left knee replacement surgery.I was off from work from July 08 until Jan 09.I did received disability of 1660 a month. My mortgage is 1479 a month. In Jan 09 I went back to work for 1 month and was told I need to go back on disability because I"m not able to sit in front of the customer. The company said it doesn't look professional.

I apply to Ditech for a loan modification in Feb 09.They claimed I nEVER call them back.In March 09 I apply again for a loan mod.Paper were mailed to me and I did what they told me.Fill out the hardship letter, financial papers, proof of disability payments that I would receive.Ditech verify that they receive all the information needed for my loan mod and says it would take approx 45 to 60 days.I called them in April because I receive another packet of loan mod papers.I call Ditech to ask them why did I receive another packet. The gentleman said to disregard the packet.I waited until May and called Ditech to find out the status of the loan.I was told previously it would be around May 18,09.

I called on May 20 and the lady kept me on hold for 35 minutes. Finally she said that usually she wouldn't transfer me to the loan mitigation dept but under the circumstance I needed to talk to them. The gentleman told me that the loan mod papers that I send in was not the ones approved by Obama and that they sent me the right one.I told Ditech that I called when I received the second set of paperwork and was told to disregard the paperwork.

Then the jerk told me I would have to start all over again.I ask them when I call to find out about the status of the paperwork why no one told me about the wrong paperwork.NO ANSWER.THAT WAS ON MAY 22,09.AS OF THIS DAY JUNE 9,09 NO PAPERWORK HAVE BEEN MAILED TO ME.

Phyllis of middletown, NY May 8, 2009

I applied for morgage modification, which i was told when appling if i didn't like it i didn't have to change. well they decided the best plan for me was to hold an escrow acct. this is not what i wanted, i called and said i didn't want the modification, long story short they did it anyway, i went from 913.46 a month the 1359.08 which would be impossible for me. So i now begin the process of undoing what they did, only to find out that they paid my home owners which i pay bi yearly, and they paid in full so now i have to pay ditech back 824.00 in order to go back to the original 913.46 for june or else pay the 1359.08 and I have to do it in 5 days for a work order. how can they change something that i have not sign a new contract for. the woman carmella (sup ) said we can because we hold the lien.

Fairlane of Chicago, IL March 26, 2009

I agreed to a mortgage with Ditech back in late 2005. During the closing process I directed them by e-mail to escrow money for local propety taxes. They did not do this and thus my taxes were underfunded. Now they have decided on their own to pay the taxes and have increased my payment well beyond what is needed to do this. I contact the children at the call center to complain - sometimes as many as 6 different little girls and INVARIABLY they all tell me a different story including flat out lies. I make sure each conversation is taped and I take detailed notes.

Susan of Haslett, MI March 24, 2009

March 24, 2009: I started the process for a refinance to pay off credit cards over 2 months ago, the people involved do not call back, even the supervisior doesn't call back and they do not return emails. The only word that I have heard it that It is at the Underwriter's, but no date. Meanwhile I have had 2 appraisals and Ditech's deal is that if you stop the process you pay for the appraisals which is arond 500.00 I am to the point where I think I have to lose thew 500 and go to another company.

My car lease is up and due to high credit card debt which I was going to pay off with a new mortgage, I cannot get a car loan. I have income and money in a retirement account and equity in my home - but still I am in this position due to Ditech. I am now thinking that they never intended to give me a mortgage and simply collect the appraiser's fee of 500.00

I am unable to obtain a lease car or a loan to buy a car. My payments are so high, I hardly have enough to eat - medical service is out entirely, no money for doctors or medicine - I am 67 years old.

Gerald of Rosemont, IL March 21, 2009

My home equity credit line of 200,000 (which I had not yet used and had paid the annual fee for since 2006) was completely frozen. Ditech sent me a letter saying it was due to generally declining home values in my area and had nothing to do with anything wrong that I had done. They then required that I pay for an appraisal AT MY EXPENSE by one of 2 companies that they required do the appraisal. The cost for this appraisal is approx 500.

I refused to pay for this but wanted the credit line reopened, and sent a letter to DiTech offering for them to pay for the appraisal, but of course they refused. After all, what is to keep them from requesting another appraisal at my cost in 6 more months? Or 6 weeks? I never agreed to this in my loan documentation! DiTech has illegally frozen my line of credit and they have no legitimate source to claim that my home has declined in value by enough to completely freeze my heloc.

I am unable to take advantage of business opportunities in this economy. My plan was to use this home equity line to purchase foreclosure or other distressed properties, or to improve a rental property I currently own. I am unable to do so as a reult of DiTech's illegal freezing of my credit line.

Albert of Phoenix, AZ February 23, 2009

On 12-30-08 @3.25pm I contacted ditech to see if I could reduce my interest rate to what I had just seen on one of their tv add 5.12% a rep for ditech named Marchelo said that the only way was to refi my home and combine their loan together. I told him that the home loan would be paid in off in 12 years. Why would I want to get into a bigger mess and refi to a higher loan rate? I just whanted to get their advertisement rate, 1 hour later I was so frustrated and got no response.

I'v tried to pay off my acct for 2 months, everytime I call to get, the payoff amount they let me know it the total was 35,732.75 I sent a chec for that amount. Next letter said you owe us 238.30 so I sent the 238.30 next letter said you still owe 11.58. I called to find out why I still owe 11.58 I got nowhere and no supervisor to speak to. I left a message with a rep and still no one has called. just wanted to let you know that have lousy service and I never want to do business with company ever. and I will let family and friends do the same.

frustration to the max. wasted time without any actual satisfaction of any kind with my account. two of the most miserable hours talking to people that dont even know English. I bet they are hired out of the USA cause they need to take all of our jobs from the American people. have incompetant people working there.

6. The Great Lifelock SCAM

The billboard and newspaper ads showing the CEO of Lifelock Todd Davis proudly revealing his social security number to America as a show of trust in the service his company offers has been revealed as the great Lifelock Com scam.

As a piece of marketing it was pure genius and has worked better than Todd Davis could have dared to dream when the idea for the ad was first put to him. Based on that ad campaign over 1 million Americans now gladly pay Lifelock $10 a month to protect their own identity the way it protects Todd Davis’s but there’s one small problem………

The Great Lifelock Com Scam

A lawyer who represents several disgruntled Lifelock consumers has been doing a little digging and discovered at least 20 cases of drivers licenses being issued to people using Todd Davis’s social security number as well as some guy in Texas who was able to take out a $500 payday loan in his name thanks to the infamous SSN.

Attorney David Paris who first did the background check on Todd Davis said:

“The company is lining its coffers with somewhere in the arena of $100 million a year by selling a level of identity theft protection that it simply cannot provide.”

So far 5 lawsuits have been filed in what is becoming known as “The great Lifelock com scam” among security experts and class action status is being sought in all cases.

It’s not just Lifelock customers and class action lawyers who aren’t happy with the Lifelock com advertising either, state agencies in both New York and Montana are investigating the Lifelock advertising campaign.

What About That Famous $1 Million Guarantee?

LifeLock is also being sued in Arizona over its $1 million service guarantee, which the plaintiffs say is misleading because it only covers you if there is a defect in LifeLock’s service.

This means that should a bank or payday loan company not check with a credit bereau or if they do but choose to ignore the fraud alert (this often happens as it slows down the process as was the case with Davis’s bogus payday loan) that Lifelock placed on your file, Lifelock are not responsible because it’s not their fault.

Ignoring the gaping hole in the guarantee for a minute it should be pretty obvious to most that while calling it the great Lifelock scam may be a little harsh, there are some serious problems with their service and the way they are promoting it.

Placing a fraud alert against your name and removing you from mail lists is NOT identity theft protection and by the way, both can be done for free with a phone call. A fraud alert will not protect you if someone is arrested and gives your name and SSN. It won’t help you if someone uses your SSN and good name to apply for a job and then robs their new boss. It won’t help you when someone uses your name to get medical services and it won’t help you if the loan company choose to ignore it!

Of course you may like the idea of having Lifelock take care of placing fraud alerts for you and feel the fee is worth it and that’s ok too. Just be aware when you are checking out their website that paying Lifelock $10 a month does not and cannot guarantee you get full identity theft protection.

UPDATE: The courts have ruled that the fraud alerts placed by Lifelock are illegal and are to be stopped. Lifelock In Trouble Again.

Lifelock In Trouble Again
July 4th, 2009 | Author: Joe Santini
It seems the end truly is nigh for Lifelock with reports emerging of a US District Judge ruling the fraud alerts Lifelock places on behalf of it’s customers are actually illegal.

Experian have been trying to get the practice stopped for some time and it’s hard to blame them when Lifelock charge it’s customers $10 a month and then simply pass on the work to Experian and demand they do the work for free.

Maybe if Lifelock had offered some kind of recompence to Experian they could have smoothed the way a little but that doesn’t seem to be Lifelock’s style.

While their competitors announced they would be dropping the practice of placing fraud alerts and shifting their business models towards credit monitoring, Lifelock CEO Todd Davis announced it would be ‘business as usual’ for them.

By this I imagine he means they will be milking the business for as much as they can for as long as they can and with current profits coming into the Lifelock office at over $10 million a month, his attitude should be no surprise.

Taking on new clients though when they know that they are unlikely to fulfill the service offered is brash at mimimum but again that should be no surprise to anyone following the exploits of Lifelock.

They are already being sued over their advertising claims. Todd davis was made aware that there were some 20 illegal drivers licenses in circulation in his name and obtained using his social security number.

The same social security number he continued to show the public in his attempts to convince them no one could use it because it was being protected by the Lifelock service.

7. When you eat Ritz Crackers you're giving money to a TOBACCO company!

In 2000, Philip Morris acquired Nabisco Holdings for $18.9 billion and merged the company with Kraft Foods the same year.<3> In 2001, Kraft issued the third-largest IPO of all time and had sold 280 million common shares.

Altria sold 280 million Kraft shares via an initial public offering in 2001, retaining an 88.1% stake.

In 2004, it sold its sugar confectionery division to Wrigley, while doing minor divestitures - including its hot cereals division in 2007, its pet snacks division in 2006, juice drinks and functional water in 2007 and some grocery brands in 2006.

Altria announced on January 31, 2007, that it will spin off all the remaining Kraft Foods shares to Altria's shareholders; each will be given approximately 0.7 share of Kraft for every Altria share they own.

9. ADT Customer complaints!

Sandra of Lauderhill, FL August 23, 2009

I have had ADT service for about 5 years. I have never called a service technician to my home. On August 22, 2009 a lightning strike set my alarm off. I was advised by a rep to remove the cover with the key pad, wait for 10 minutes then place the cover back on. After following her instructions the alarm continued to go off. Another rep said a tech needed to be sent to my home. She transferred me to the dispatching center. I spoke to a rude, disrespectful, unthoughtful, and unprofessional ADT rep by the name of Lamont. He gave me three options. The options were:

1. Pay 275 for Sunday "emergency" service 2. Leave my home unsecured for three days until a "regular" 25 visit was made by a tech 3. Transfer my business to Brinks home security to get immediate service

After my disapproval of the first two options. Lamont told me to have a good day and hung up the phone. However, I took the third option. ADT collected my money on the regular every month. The first time I needed regular help, ADT said it was an emergency and gave me no viable options. I wouldn't recommend anyone that I cared about to do business with ADT.

Jewell of West Plains, MO August 17, 2009

Brinks Home secueity called me and said that I had asked for info about Brinks, which I did not ask for. They talkd me into getting an alarm system put in my home. In the mean time we had to trade card becuse ours was just about to give us a lot of problems, so I cancelled the system because we could not afford another %50 dollars a month payment. Then ADT called and I told them that I could not afford the extra monthly payment and they took 101 dollars out of my checking ccount. I called them last week and they promised to put it back into my account and they haven't done so. WE are elderly people, I am 77 and my husband of 58 years is 81. We are on a very limited budget and need this money reurned to my acct. What can I do to get this done?

aaron of providence, RI August 17, 2009

Beware of incredulous contracts from ADT. I started using ADT security services in July of 2007. I installed a new system in my home, paid for it, and everything was going fine. The next year around the same time I decided to move away. I contacted the representative whom I had initially signed the contract with. He assured me that moving was perfectly fine, and I could take my system and continue under the same agreement.

I continued with the move, had the system reinstalled, and paid a fee for the work. Another year later and I've moved again (I move a lot). However, since I was moving out of state, and the place I would be living was not in need of security. I was notified by ADT that canceling the service would violate the terms of my contract. I said that was correct, and confirmed that I had only one year left. I asked how much the cancellation fee would be for this. I knew ahead of time that I could pay up to 75% of the remaining balance on the contract.

However, according to ADT I had started a new contract when I moved to my previous location. I was charged a cancellation fee of 200 plus one more 50 payment because it takes 30 days to disconnect. I think this is dishonest since I never signed an additional contract with ADT, and therefore shouldn't of had to pay these additional fees. I used the exact same service but at a different location. The contract was slated for 3 years, and should have remained so. I think ADT should have extended my same service at the previous address like they stated, and not hold me liable to a contract that I never signed. This practice will only drive customers away.

sujatha of Maryland Height, MO August 15, 2009

The Sales rep told that I need to sign contract for 1yr and the contract document also states the same and if I do not require the service they can transfer to others. They have charged me 500 for installation and told if you move to different appt we will not charge and use the same instrument, after 1yrs when I moved to different app, and asked them to move, they said addition of 200 would be charge and I need again start with new contract, I have been trying to contact the local branch manager and last month he said he would be send the agree ment document, I have still not got and since 3 months I am trying to get information and every other person tells me different information.

I do not understand how this goes about, since they require business any one say any things and if I talk to customer service, only answer I get is I am sorry for the inconvinence, but as per ADT this is what need to be done. Is thr not specific rule and how these companies work. I need to pay 758, this is quite a huge amount. When I asked for cancallatin they did not cancel and only next month they cancelled and they charged for the previous month. Is this the way the business has to go, customer sastifications.

Patricia of hawthorne, CA August 14, 2009

The ADT sales rep told me that I would not be under contract for any specific amount of time and that I could cancel at anytime without penalty. She either lied or she didnt realize that on the contract it states there is a 5 year contract and the cancellation fee is 90% of the remaining contract (which is over 1500 in my case)!

2 months ago, I called to cancel and was told that I am under contract for 5 years. I went to the local branch and asked for the contract. The person at the desk says the flimsy 1-page yellow carbon copy paper in my ADT folder is the contract. I look over the contract and can not see the term of 5 years. Even the ADT rep could not find it until another rep pointed it out.

ADT has purposely made it difficult to spot the length of the contract. Not only is the contract length in tiny letters, but the length of the contract is typed as "five" rather than "5" to make it extremely difficult to find. All other numbers in the contract are numerical, e.g "1 year" and "30 days". The number five is written out in letters to make it blend in with the other words to keep it hidden. This is misleading and unfair business practices.

It turns out the sales rep who I signed up with no longer works with the company. Ive contacted the manager numerous times who claims that there is an investigation but can not provide me with any updates. He never returns my calls. Its been approximately 2 months of speaking with the ADT manager and I have finally filed with BBB.

ADT should make the length of the contract in large or at least regular font. It should not be purposely concealed so that even an ADT worker cant find it. ADT sales rep shouldnt lie about the length of the contract and ADT managers should handle cases in a timely manner. In addition, the cancellation fees are redicoulous, no other company Ive dealt with has a 90% (over 1500) cancellation fee. I am willing to work with attorneys.

Thomas of Kingsland, GA August 10, 2009

A person from ADT approached my door named Amanda. She wanted to sell me an ADT security system. It was very hot outside and she was fanning herself with an ADT sign, wearing flip flops, T shirt and a dirty blue jean skirt. I politely told her no. She then started quoting statistics of house break ins etc. I pointed out my dog growling at her and said I have a security system. Of course Amanda took several steps backword. I told Amanda that everyone in this area is a cop, federal agent or a marine and non of us have ever been robbed etc. She still insisted we were not safe from crime. I could not help it, I started to laugh at what she was saying.

I started to close my door as she rambled on. She got the hint and started walking away. Her final words to me were, " You know your a real ". I called ADT and bascially got the run around and they never were able to reach a supervisor. I called back and received phone numbers to call. Conviently all the voice mail boxes were full.

Kevin of Denver, CO August 7, 2009

They turned off my alarm service and sent me collection because for some reason money stopped being withdrawn from my account. They are asking for either 378 to turn back the service or almost 1300 to pay for the term of the contract. ADT was suppose to take the money out of my account. They never sent a letter any did they mentioned to me any time I called that there was a problem.

Donna of Washington, DC July 29, 2009

Please help me. Two gentlemen sold me my ADT system two years ago. I had no idea it was going to be hooked up to my police department. The police partners with my former employer. My former coworkers and former friends performed espinoaged. I was told one price than I was told a second price. It was cut off and now it's back on with an annoying alarm that goes off at any time. This is done out of retaliation by them because I went up against my employer. I have no protection. My own sister is an excop that partners with my rich clergy and everyone else to bring me down.

jorge of downey, CA July 28, 2009

an ADT sales rep came to my store to offer me their services, i ended up signing up with this company, he told me it was a one year contract for the pricesof 45 dollars a month. when I tried to canceled my service after six months of service, I called ADT directly and they told me that i have a 5 year contract with them, the service really disappointment me, since my alarm is not working and they promese me, they were going to send over a tech. it has been almost two months and no one has never come

Kelly of Clarkston, GA July 24, 2009

My home phone line with AT&T, and the security system with ADT has a problem. The problem is that if AT&T phone has a dial tone, the ADT line will not have a signal when the alarm goes off. Meanwhile, if the ADT has a signal, the home phone will not have a dial tone. And I have set up the conference call with the two companies to set up the time so that the two technicians from the two companies can meet each other to fix the problem. But the two company avoid to set up the specific so that the two of them can meet. The problem have lasted for a few monthes.

10. Vonage What a NIGHTMARE!

Shawn of Manteca, CA August 22, 2009

Sept.2008 I signed up with Vonage. I was told by Vonage that Vonage is compatible with my ISP "Clearwire". I was told that I can still use my fax, and use my computer without interrupting phone use. Shortly into my service with them I started encountering problems. I called their tech support and was told to reboot (unplug the Vonage device for 3 seconds). This did not remedy the problem(s).

The problems I encountered were: having to unplug and replug the Vonage modem (reboot) almost daily, static, echo, blank spaces, dropped calls on almost every call. I never was able to use my fax. Weather, vehicles driving by, time of day all effected call clarity. It was extremely daunting to call customer service at Vonage as the wait times were up to an hour, and many of the reps have very broken English. So I just lived with it for a time, and little by little people stopped calling me.At one point I did get fed up and looked into getting my old phone carrier back but they could not 'port' my same phone number back, I'd have to get a different phone number. Recently I was able to make arrangements with At&t to port my same phone number and transfer service back to them.

Today 8-21-09 I called Vonage to disconnect my service. After a VERY long wait, I spoke with a rep for a surprisingly long time; the reason why it was taking so long is that he was pushing me to stay with Vonage. Not just suggesting, but getting very pushy. And then throwing in that there would be a substantial termination fee 79.99.I explained to him that I felt that the circumstances were out of my control and didn't feel it was fair to incur a termination fee. I asked to speak to a supervisor - more waiting. I repeated my situation and without hesitation she said if I cancelled today there would be a 110 charge. No if's and's or butt's about it. No sooner had I disconnected the call and boom, the funds were being withdrawn from my bank account (rather sneaky). I'd really like my 110 back.

MONIQUE of COMMERCE, CA August 21, 2009

In the simplest of terms, Vonage is a company that should be punished for what they are doing to consumers. They are in fact stealing money from hardworking consumers by promising to provide a product and failing at its successful initial implementation. I am the consumer that has experienced this first hand and have documented the following: 1. Initial set-up 3/10/08 39.94 2. First bill 4/9/08 - 28.99 3. Automated billing from May through July 09 - 86.58 4. Varied monthly billing Aug through Sept. 09 - 57.34 5. Last bill in 10/2008 - 29.02 6. Sub total: 241.87 7. Disconnection fee in 2008: 28.99 8. Postage for Penn Corporation 3/16/09, dispute: 10.56 Grand total: 281.42

In our attempt to make the system work and as we attempted to cancel their service with us, we experienced after 20-30 minute intervals where customer service made a practice of repeated hang-ups several times from a Vonage remote location overseas. They then continued to bill us for a product that was never successfully installed or operational from the beginning.

Five months after we cancelled our banks debit card allowing their automated debits to continue, they file a collection notice from Penn Credit Corporation and are now invested in pursuing a mark against our credit rating. THIS IS VERY WRONG AND THEY MUST BE MADE ACCCOUNTABLE; AT THE VERY LEAST EXPOSED, SO THAT OTHER HONEST CITIZENS AREN'T SUCKED INTO THIS BLACK HOLE!

Ron of Fitchburg, MA August 20, 2009

After the website said if your number is ported out your service will be terminated automatically. I was charged for another month then I was charged an additional 93.10 for the rebate revocation because I was not with them a year for the equipment that I wanted to return. And a 39.99 cancellation fee that I was not told about, supposedly they had no contracts!

The customer service people hung up on me once and made notes that I was angry and yelling at them and hung up on them. I was angry! They couldn't patch me to a department head cause they were in a "meeting" Yeah ok we have all heard that! So now it has gone unresolved they could have saved alot of trouble by at least meeting me with a refund of the one month that they charged me for while my number was with Comcast.

Alston of St Cloud, FL August 14, 2009

I am retired man who received on June 6th, 2009 an unsolicited phone call from a Vonage saleperson who talked me into accepting Vonage service. He said that I could cancel within 31 days for a full refund.

I called near the end of the 31 dsy to get instructions for returning the unopened box containing the unused router. The Vonage service person asked for a PIN that I could not recall, having never used the service. I was told that they could not providce a routing number for the return of the router without this number. I provided the Vonage assigned telephone number and my email address but she still refused to provide return instructions. In the interim Vonage started billing me for a service I was not using and had tried in vain to cancel. They frustrated my efforts to cancel the service.

I received several email from Vonage demanding payment of monthly service fees for a service I was not using. On Friday 14th of August, I finally got through to an accounts manager name Gail. I provided my name and Vonage telephone number to her and she was able to pull up my account. She siad she pull assist me in cancelling the service.

After a rather lengthy process, she said she was ready to hit the key to cancel my service but I would automatically be charged 117.69 for the router and for the cancellation fee. I said I did not need or had ever used the router and would return it. She said they did not want it back. Basically Vonage has ripped me off for 117.69 dollars for a router I do not need and have never used and to cancel a service I have never accessed. If this is not an illegal business pracitce, it ought to be! I have called the FCC to register a compliant against Vonage.

I called to cancel my vonage phone service and by the end of our conversation I was told that there's a disconnection fee of 39.99. I was furious because I have been a customer since Nov. 2007. Vonage company is DECEITFUL! They don't tell you that there will be a disconnection fee. BEWARE if you are even thinking of getting one. First, they want your credit/debit card for automatic payment monthly. I've learned my lesson NEVER agree to a company that ask for an automatic payments.

I called to cancel my service today and got debited on my account minutes after I called. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH VONAGE AGAIN. Today they just didn't loose a good customer (pays my monthly bill on time) referred 5 more customer since 2007 but I will make sure they keep loosing more.

They advertised an unlimited service for telephone and i have been using it accordingly. Then they began suspending my account for going over minutes. My question was how can i go over minutes if i have unlimited service? They charged me every month and now they wont refund my money for cancelling the service. I have been trying my level best and no one wants to help me. I am getting the run around.

When i took up the service, no one told me about these restrictions of minutes. They sold me an unlimited service and now they want to charge for service that have not been provided. PLEASE HELP! The charges may not amount to much but i make very little money so it is a big deal for me. please help me cancel these services.

We signed up fo vonage phone service in Nov. 08 for our home, and in Jan. 09 put that on vacation & ordered a new line to be used in Mexico with a soft phone. When we came home in early May 09 from Mexico we canceled that Mexico line. It was never cancelled, Vonage wouldn't stop billing us for ths service and we paid through today, August 10th 09. We have not been reemburst for the device that we sent back as yet, and have been charged disconnect fees for both accounts, and no back for the soft phone because it's besn less than one yr. but we were never told that up front. No matter who you talk to they will not help resolve anything, they just keep adding on other reasons for why you will not get your back.

My fiance gave a vonage rep my card info to, as the rep explained, start the account.Needless to say, they started an automatic deduction system immediately. The equipment actually inhibeted the effectiveness of the high speed internet service I pay for already.I cant evfen get Vonage to send me any info as to where they want their equipment sent.

Vonage has withdrawn funds from my account for over 4 months. This is even as I have repestedly asked them to stop and where do they want their equipment. My account is now in a negative balance,Ive had to cancel my debit card,The credit union wants payment to bring my account back to good standing.

Signed up for Vonage on January 9, 2009. They sent me a refurbished V terminal to connect to their service. On July 31, 2009 I decided to cancel because I did not need the service any longer and frankly could not see the 36 a month I was paying for a service I did not use. I knew I would be charged a 39.99 cancellation fee because I did not keep the service for 2 years (ridiculous considering this is an internet phone service). I then got charged 79.99 for the refurbished equipment. This is the same price as the new equipment. Actually the equipment is not only &69.99 in stores now. I then asked the rep if I could sell the equipment to someone else and they could use it. She informed me that no one else can use this equipment because it is attached to my account. Well, this is not going to be used in my home, because after the treatment and the way I was talked too by the rep the first time I called (she was actually laughing at me and condescending) a couple of days earlier, I would never use this service again. I will actually not recommend this service to friends and family. I guess the equipment will just have to go in the trash.

I called 2 weeks early to pre-schedule cancellation of service. I no longer needed the service as of Aug 1 2009. The rep said that they dont do pre-scheduled disconnects and I should call the day I no longer needed it (July 31). I did call that day to cancel and was told i would not get my monthly charge for August (which they billed on the 30th) back because I should have known to cancel before they billed. The supervisor was demeaning and combative and said I should have known about this and that is was too bad. They have stolen 180 dollars for service they dont have to provide and they KNEW IT!!! They are common thieves and I hope they go out of business soon. How unethical can you get. Pure con artist business. Is this what you call laissez faire business? They should be ashamed.
