I wonder what OTHER insane conspiracy theories of ours will turn out to be true? An apology would be nice.

1. And an apology would be nice for Valerie Plame
but people who are perfect do not apologize for anything.

4. Tom Ridge apparently admitted
that the Bush Crime Family would roll out false "terra alerts" at times when it was politically advantageous for them to do so. No surprises here, since I (and others) had said so all along, but the "shocking" part is to hear one of their own actually admit it.

5. Lying us into war...
...Niger yellowcake, warrant-less wiretaps, secret oil deals in the Vice President's office...

It's so nice to be assured by the amen chorus that a large scale conspiracy is impossible because too many people would have to be in the loop.

Then when the conspiracy is revealed the claim will be that everyone suspected as much at the time so it wasn't really a secret.

Those facts sure are dangerous things to those who live on Fantasy Island.

Those of us who were ringing the bell while this was going on will be written off as left wing nutcases. (See the recent Mark Ambinder article.)

LIHOP anyone?

i could go on.
you know, when my husband gives me that look, like "are we out of tinfoil again, honey", i remind him of how many news stories we have heard on the teevee machine where i turned to him and said "see, i told you."
there is no doubt that we know shit here that most americans have no way to know.

and btw, this IS the second time that ridge has copped to this.

26. It's one piece of a larger picture, and that's what "coincidence theorists" fiercely oppose
... not that there aren't numerous anomalies, deceptions, obfuscations and cover ups surrounding the phony "war of terror," but to connect the dots that point to an obvious, cohesive pattern of intent/motive by such incidents being interconnected, and producing results that favor specific interests and aims - that's where the forbidden line is crossed.

23. Also, Howard Dean is owed a huge apology by most of the mass media
They used his view on this issue to paint him as a "loon", so that when they managed to get the distorted "scream", the character assassination was complete.

Yet he still worked his ass off for us. Thanks Howard! :)

31. Tapes which also conveniently showed up when * needed
a ratings boost. That last one before the 2004 election was a real piece of work. Mighty slick production for some dude supposedly suffering kidney disease in a godforsaken cave somewhere on the Afghan border. I didn't know they had dry-cleaners and Hollywood grips and lighting specialists so far out in the wilderness. Such production value I never knew you could attain in a cave at the arse-end of nowhere.

Maybe the nutwingers are right... The unions really HAVE taken over everything, everywhere! A poor terrorist can't even make a grainy, terrifying, terroristic, terrorist "Silence! I keel you!" video without those goddam homasexuble hollywood types and goddam unions interfering and tarting up the hell out of it :sarcasm:

I believe there's an Osama bin Ladin in a cave somewhere just like I believe there's a Santa Claus in a magic workshop at the North Pole. Both were invented for the consumption of the gullible. I've seen a lot of pictures of tall, slim, bearded guys who look somewhat similar all purported to be OBL, but who's to say ANY of them were ever called OBL. That last guy on that last tape was amazingly fit for someone supposed to be more than half dead, on the run, and living in a cave. You don't have to be raised in the country to smell horseshit.

27. Corporations upped hiring around March 2004 (an election year): Justified Tax Cuts for Rich?
Edited on Fri Aug-21-09 11:26 AM by HughBeaumont
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/HughBeaumont/94

Starting with the March 2004 numbers, despite a three year stretch of negative job creation that never met the 150,000 jobs required each month, the sputtering Bewshconomy received it's strongest shot in the arm when it came to hiring. Faux News jiz-macked all over themselves during this period despite the fact that overall job numbers were still mired in the negative territory and not one net new job was gained until January 2005.

(numbers in the thousands)

308 March
288 April
248 May
112 June
32 July
144 Aug
96 Sept
337 Oct

Bewsh's re-election run, once trailing behind the challenger and far better person for the job John Kerry, was boosted dramatically by those October numbers. This despite the fact that not one helpful policy occurred on his watch and the prospect of a second Bewsh term was certain to be substantially damaging to the country's fiscal and international future.

2005 was also a strong hiring year, but the Consumer Debt and National debt figures skyrocketed as a result of wealthy tax cuts and the unsustainable wars in two sovereign nations. Then there was the looming housing and financial bubbles that were never dealt with, not to mention stagnating wages being asked to pay for all of this. Each subsequent year saw less and less hiring . . . aaaaaaand then we hit 2007.

We all know what sort of sad, pitiful and easily avoidable result that 28 years of Reagan/Friedman laissez-fail wrought.

So was there a push by collective financial, media and MIC corps (already bathing in paper profits thanks to Bewsh's low-rich-tax, "Two Americas", offshore-encouraging, whiskey throttle economic stupidity) to keep this gravy train going until the last IOU was squeezed from our treasury in 2008 by the Banksters?

35. The rule of law restored would be nice for Ms Plame, et al
I remember trying to persuade righties online that we were being duped. Many of them turned me in, they said. They were whipped into a lather by the traitorous corporate media and certain I meant America harm. Facts meant nothing and those conservatives are truly beyond reason. Obama is a kitten to think he can have bipartisan cooperation on anything.

Obama needs to move now if it's not too late.

36. Sad thing is...
Edited on Sat Aug-22-09 02:15 AM by tjwash
...there will still be a depressingly large number of people who, despite hearing this from the horses ass, still won't believe it.

When I first heard of this, I really thought that I would love to get in everybody's face and say "I told you so asshole" to every fuckfaced shithead, who immediately stamped us as moon-bats, nutcases, and cranks. The truth is, I WOULD have said that, but now I am pretty much wore out. An emotionless, used up, husk of a man, battle fatigued and burnt out from countless arguments and encounters, no longer containing the will to care about anything and left for rusting scrap on the side of the road.

And if anyone thinks that Ridge had anything remotely resembling a conscience, that piece of shit just proved beyond a shadow doubt that he doesn't, and is still exploiting the American people; this time by finding a way to get some free publicity for his book.

I'm at the point now, where I don't want to read any more about the abuses of the Bush administration unless it's in an article about an upcoming trial.
