Morning news WITHOUT imus is so refreshing.
Edited on Thu Apr-12-07 05:03 AM by Philosoraptor
Just surfing on the t.v. noise/propaganda machine this morning, enjoying the rich, refreshing feel of NOT having that ugly, hateful crank and his unfunny buddies spewing and grumbling obscenities while I sip cheap coffee.

Believe me MSNBC, you never needed that old drunken junkie anyway, what the fuck were you thinking when you put his awful ass on the airways? I never watched him, never could stand it, and I always wondered what the hell he was even doing there.

Hey CBS, get a clue, follow suit, and then let's focus like a lazer on all those other assholes too, and we all know who they are.

It's the 21st century now folks, let's move beyond bush and imus, the sooner the better.

6. Yes, it's really so refreshing
2 hours, mostly coverage of the Imus controversy, is so much more refreshing than Imus himself...

:sarcasm:

And what Imus has to do with Bush, I'll never know.

This "media clean-up" is going to begin and end with Imus. It changes nothing. You still have Glenn Beck. You still have Fox bringing in people like Ann Coulter to comment on the Imus situation.

I wonder why this whole situation reeks of the media equivalent of taking down Harriet Myers? There are bigger, much worse, fish to fry.

Just flipped over to MSNBC real fast to see what they were covering. "And coming up, Rapper Snoop Dog..."

Yeah, boy, real news is just so refreshing.......

What an empty "victory."

14. Sure they do.
Did you see that thread someone posted just yesterday I think, about some of the comments other big-time media figures have made? I assume not. It happens all the time. It will continue to happen. Glenn Beck is not going down. Ann Coulter was talking about how a few newspapers boycotting her ended up making her more money in the long run. Fox isn't going to fire their clowns just because MSNBC "fired" Imus.

This great media cleansing will begin and end with Imus, unless it sweeps up Rosie, too. The real problems, and the worst offenders, are going nowhere.

24. You might be, but I'm not.
It's cutting off our nose to spite our face. I don't know how many people actually listened/watched Imus, but he was far closer to our viewpoints than most people out there on TV. He regularly called Bush and his cronies war criminals. He called them the most inept administration ever. He'd been criticizing the war and how it's been run for quite some time. He's always been on the administration's ass for their treatment (or lack thereof) of our soldiers.

He apologized for what he did, many times over, and even though he has been severely punished, he's still apologizing and going through with his word about apologizing directly to the basketball team. He wasn't giving lip service just to save his MSNBC gig.

Like I said, there are far bigger fish to fry. The TV is still full of offensive personalities, there's just one less now that thinks (and says) Bush is a war criminal. Whoopee. And the news is just so much more refreshing now...let's see what's on MSNBC now...looks like they're past the Snoop Dog story and are now back on Imus.

9. Morning news can always be refreshing
Simply turn off the TV.

I've always found it amusing, in a puzzling sort of way, how people around here will moan and groan about the MSM, yet the next instance their devoting hours and days to watching it. All of it, including Faux. If you don't like the MSM, turn it off.

In fact if you simply turn off the TV, you'll find life can be much more pleasurable.

25. That's your right,
But please don't act so offended or shocked as the medium continues in its race to the bottom. The medium is in business for one reason, and one reason alone, to sell things. Advertising is the main game on TV, the programs are simply filler to get people to sit still for the brainwas. . .er advertising. This means that TV execs will do whatever it takes to put people on their couches and keep them there. Thus we are now inundated with the latest AnnaParisSharkBlondeFauxcontroversy rather than real news and information. What's real sad is that so many people in this country actually buy into the notion that what happens in this virtual reality actually replaces reality itself. Gee, how do you think Bushco got the public to back his illegal, immoral war? TV, hammering home his points, with the help of the RW echo chamber, time and time again, until miraculously lies were turned into truth and fiction turned into reality. This has happened time and again, and yet the American public continues to fall for the same old trick. If it's on TV then it must be true:eyes:

You may be tired of the "shoot your TV" crowd, but can you honestly deny the host of harm that TV has perpetrated over the past sixty years? Especially the last thirty years as TV gradually became less and less a medium for the flow of information and increasingly a tool for anesthetizing the public.

30. Hey, that's fine with me if you wish to expose yourself to garbage
As they say however, GIGO.

Yes, I own a television, though I've gone for a couple decades at a stretch without one. But gee, what do I use mine for? Watching DVDs, the local weather, the occaisional sporting event(though I do admit I'm a regular viewer of the NFL each season). Other than that, I watch very, very little. Co-workers, friends and acquaitances get all worked up about the latest SurvivorIdolMillionaire24 garbage program being spewed, and frankly I'm clueless. I have neither the time, nor the inclination to view such drivel. But hey, if you want to immerse yourself in the cold blue glow, go for it. In fact I think that there's a coffin maker who will, for a small fee, install a solar powered TV right in your box, so you won't even have to give up that remote when you die:shrug:

To each their own friend. You're free to watch whatever you wish, I'm free to shake my head at the human condition.

Just pointing out the facts. And I really shouldn't be singling you out, my remarks are also of a more general nature also.

I understand that your options are limited, but there are other options, books, computer, etc. But I can see why you would be more of a heavy viewer.

Sorry to hear that you're homebound, and hopefully this isn't a permanent condition.

Peace:hi:

Odd isn't it? Maybe I grew up in that first generation of kids that always had the TV on, I don't know. As to groaning about the "MSM" well I would like a counterpoint to FOX. But so it goes.

26. I grew up in the sixties,
But my mother rarely allowed us to park ourselves in front of the TV. Apparently neither did the other parents on our street, for we were always out in the neighborhood, playing games and riding bikes. TV has never dominated my life or free time. I've lived for many many years without a television and haven't missed it at all. In fact I've probably watched more television since I met my wife than at any time during my life, and even then it's well below the norm of most Americans. I just find myself having more important things to do than parking my fat ass in front of a machine whose contents are designed to get you to buy crap that you don't need, and will brainwashing in order to do so.

It was such a waste having this old loudmouthed guy bloviating on the TV for hours every morning. I realize this leaves additional airtime for Anna Nicole and other non-news, but I'm sure there will be some real news mixed in. It's still better than Imus.

on Countdown, Steve Capus, the head of NBC news talked about the reputation of their organization. Bullshit, as long as they have news models like Witless spewing their wrong wing venom, they will never be credible. The soul voice in that wilderness that speaks truth to power is Keith.

propagandists, including Timmy, they can never have the integrity that Capus is talking about right now on the Today Show.

I has nothing to do with scheduling. It has to be about giving us a free media.

Imus was a toxic presence who I very once in a while watched, when he had an interesting Dem on. I usually lived to regret that decision, as his offensive comments knew no limits. Now I never have to worry about succumbing to that temptation again!
