Freepers attack Jane Fonda....AGAIN!
Edited on Sun Jan-28-07 06:42 AM by Cascadian
How things have not changed. The knuckle draggers on "FreakRepublic.com" are all once again bashing Jane Fonda for particpating in yesterday's anti-war demonstration in D.C.. They are resurrecting the "Hanoi Jane" name and calling for her to be hanged. Hell! They are even showing that damned photo of her claiming she was with John Kerry when Kerry was several rows away. It's all just laughable!

Read on and either laugh or puke!

1. If one is annoyed by barking dogs, one needs to stay away from
barking dogs. (At least, I try to tell myself that. Of course, calling the pound could work.)

2. I sometimes sneak into Freeperville to just to get a good chuckle.
As revolting as they are, they are good for a laugh sometimes.

6. I lean towards a visit to the vets for the snip, it would make them less aggressive
as well as prevent any unplanned FReepers.

I almost forgot that for a second.

Want a war Freepers? Go fight it. Put your money where your mouth is.

5. CNN had a clip of them
There were like ten "pro war" demonstrators.

They're a pathetic bunch. They really need to let things go. What Fonda did some thirty five years ago was fucking stupid, but it's time for them to move on.

18. my two cents in predictions
Jane Fonda...She has baggage.Lots of baggage that can be used of ill will. Her past is a "Swift boat" kick in the arse if the top of the ticket has her playing a lead role on the campaign trail.

again, jmo, looking at what mudslide awaits in the fall of '08.

she's political poison. And obviously I don't see any candidate associating themselves with her in any way.

But I think people should realize by now what she did was immature, idiotic, but petty - and move on.

15. Yup.
I might get flamed for this, but I don't think it helps us when Jane Fonda shows up. She's such an easy target, she revives bad memories about pro and anti-war sentiment during the Vietnam era, and she did go way overboard at that time. It's not something we can defend, and we all know that freepers will reach back 100 years or so to find a juicy tidbit about prominent Democrats.

20. no flame from me
I also said "uh oh - big mistake"

however, she does have the right to speak just like the rest of us.

meanwhile, it seems a shame that the march will probably be framed around Jane Fonda just because a few wingdingbats have their boxers wedged up their butts

27. Agreed
I have nothing against this woman.

I am glad that she opposes the war.

BUT I wish she had the good sense and propriety to avoid a high profile at important events like this. She should have better judgement that a person, rightly or wrongly, as polarizing as she, should just walk anonymously with the crowd, if she felt so strongly she could not stay home.

Oh GAWD -- is Jane Fonda the best they could do to appear at this march for such an important cause? She had a successful career as an actress, but is now a has been. Her appearance at this march is as exciting as Rich Little appearing at the White House Correspondence dinner.

And unlike another writer in this thread, I do not think people came to this march to hear and see Jane Fonda. They came to participate in a march against the war, period.

Perhaps political leaders, besides Kucinich and Conyers, are too cowardly to show up, afraid to take a stand. And celebrities are too cowardly -- afraid of being Dixie Chicked.

Or maybe it's time to acknowledge some new popular political/media celebrities -- I bet our own dear Will Pitt would be a riveting and rallying presence at such an event. And what about Scott Ritter, et al.?

Maybe there's something I don't know about this march, but I am wondering, since opposition to the war is truly mainstream, why weren't more current players in the opposition movement present?

If Jane Fonda is a traitor and a scumbag, she still draws about ten thousand times more people to listen to her than you can ever get.

11. "Hanoi Jane" ?
Well, they have help.

"Hanoi Jane" Fonda turned her attention to Iraq yesterday, breaking a 34-year silence to speak to tens of thousands of war protesters in Washington.

FREEPER: Nee!

16. Much to my shock, re: 'Hanoi jane'

http://www.snopes.com/military/fonda.asp

Snopes isn't allowing me to highlight and copy text, so please view the link; the shock being the freepers' substantiating the "handing over POWs' notes to the Viet Cong" being false. But also a relief. That'd be the most heinous thing anybody can do. But she still lied about US soldiers' not having been tortured, which means she's as valid as any newscaster or journalist in today's society. (in other words, we all know damn well they were being tortured and she didn't have the integrity to tell the truth, impartially. She's almost as bad as half the 'journalists' on FOX News Channel, who clearly spin or omit details because that WOULD hamper their disbelief of reality.

Though I still can't fathom why she's support the communist Viet Cong regime... and since freepers are so fond of offshoring, why are they so keen to open up Vietnam for more offshoring ventures? Surely communists are not our friends? What is the truth? (it's hard to have an unmalleable opinion when none of the ambient circumstances adds up. So when it comes to offshoring, previous animosities and so on, I'm abstaining from holding too many opinions. More often than not, the future is not what we think it to be and I don't like the concept of 'self-fulfilling prophecy'. I'm just going to get on with life.

Otherwise they have to actually think about the message.

I thought they said Jane was okay after she was "born again" and left Ted Turner...guess not.
