The popular ABC show, Dancing with the Stars, announced the lineup of so-called "stars" for the new season, premiering in September. And one of the contestants is none other than politician Tom Delay, who told The Daily Beast that he has no intention of letting up on President Barack Obama just because he's a contestant.

“That’s just five hours a day that I dance,” he told The Daily Beast Tuesday morning from Houston, Texas, as he drove to his first training session. “I’ve got another 19 hours to stop Obama.”

4. Boycotts don't work that way

When you have a product being supplied on large scale - whether it's a TV show or a type of car, or a brand of restaurant, simply abstaining isn't going to do a lick of good. Most producers take into account that most people will not buy their product, and plan their spending and bookkeeping accordingly. Changing the channel won't help, especially if you never watched it anyway. Writing and calling the station to complain and explain why you will not be indulding goes quite a few steps further than passive avoidance.

Boycotts only work if you can get the majority of consumers on your side. Activism is where you need to go.
