Nelson (D-Ne) sets health care meetings

I will probably only see the first part of this. I have to be at my union hall at 2:30 that afternoon. I guard the ballot box for our contract vote. Next Tuesday night Rep. Lee Terry will be holding a town meeting. I have to be at my union meeting that night. I'll be getting nominated for the full time office of VP.

Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., says he's arranging a series of public meetings across the state to talk about health care reform.

The first meeting will be Wednesday at the Durham Research Center Auditorium on the University of Nebraska Medical Center campus in Omaha, Nelson said today.

The session will run from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m and is open to anyone who wishes to ask questions, state their concerns, or just listen, the senator said.

A second public meeting will be in Lincoln on Thursday, 3 p.m. at Madonna Research Hospital.

Nelson's office said more meetings are expected to be held in North Platte, Kearney, Norfolk, South Sioux City and possibly other communities.

“We’ve heard a lot of misinformation about health care reform and the public is rightfully concerned. I’ve already met personally with hundreds of Nebraskans and heard from thousands more," Nelson said. "These public meetings will be an opportunity for me to hear from even more so I can be sure that Nebraskans’ views are included in the health care debate in Washington this fall."
