7. If there is no public option, it means the Repugs HAVE won. End of HCR story forever. But just go on
Trying to save Obama's face, even though a final no public option bill would be such a major exposure of Obama's/Dems conviction-free asses that saving Obama's face will forever more be a pointless endeavor. Because his word will be even more meaningless than it's already become on a host of other issues.

2. I support the public option but think we should not throw out a good bill
because it isn't pure enough.

3. I think that the public option is the last hope we have
for real health care reform. I'm not sure I'm liking the sound of the word reform anymore--it seems like a polite way of alluding to change without being as forceful or definite about it. So, I'll say that the last chance we have for real health care change is the public option--I would prefer to have a single payer system, but change comes in bits most of the time and if we get a public option at all, it's still a big step.

4. Public option
was a sell out. I will not be happy with anything less than single payer. I expect there are some Dem incumbents I will not vote to retain their office in the upcoming elections because of the fucked up effort at health care reform.

5. I am pro single payer, so at this point everything is a compromise to me.

6. Democrats never show up for the fight.
Can you imagine the for profit ins. industry backing down. Not on your life.

"I support co-ops controlled by our company but a public option will have to be fine, we can't be purists."
said the BCBS CEO.

:crazy:

You don't fight the school yard bully by asking him what it is he prefers you give up. Especially when you are talking about human sacrifices coming from the working class.

8. I just wrote to the President.
He'll probably never see it, but then again, you never know.

Dear Mr. President:

<snip>

PLEASE promise that you will veto any legislation that does not include a robust public option for us.

Insurance companies are leeches and vultures. They provide NO service except to hide "terms and conditions," extort as much money as they can get away with from people who can't afford it, and then weasel out of giving any real value for that money.

PLEASE don't let the insurance companies and their shills say that is the sacred cow of "capitalism" because it's not -- it's theft and fraud. These are immoral and criminal enterprises. If we must deal with them at all, please sideline them and keep them on a strong, short leash. Otherwise, we'll be dealing with an Enron-like fiasco in a few short years.

<snip>

I WILL NOT voluntarily give one penny to for-profit health insurance companies that are interested only in golden parachutes, obscene salaries/bonuses, and the capital gains profits of their investor/profiteer class. They are an abomination -- profiteering from human pain and misery just as much as illegal arms runners and human traffickers are.

Mr. President, my children and I have supported you and trusted you from the beginning. <snip> PLEASE don't let us down on this.

If we can't have the ideal, a single-payer system, AT LEAST please promise to veto any legislation that does not contain a strong and robust public option.

I know you've got a terrible mess on your hands and so many things to deal with, but this is one of the most urgent. Thank you for all you're doing and trying to do.

Respectfully,
...

I don't know if it will help, but I feel a tiny bit better for having sent it.
