Rahm Slammed Dems Attacking Other Dems As “F–king Stupid,” Sources Say
Someone is stupid all right, as well as arrogant and a pretty sad strategist, but it isn’t progressive dems. And…if health care fails it will be the fault of Rahm and the blue dogs.

Rahm Slammed Dems Attacking Other Dems As “F–king Stupid,” Sources Say

“The Politico’s Jonathan Martin reported this morning that Rahm Emanuel warned leaders of liberal groups in a private meeting this week that it was time to stop running ads attacking Blue Dog and “centrist” Dems on health care.

I’m told, however, that Emanuel went quite a bit further than this.

Sources at the meeting tell me that Emanuel really teed off on the Dem-versus-Dem attacks, calling them “f–king stupid.” This was a direct attack on some of the attendees in the room, who are running ads against Dems right now.

Tellingly, Rahm raised the specter of a loss on health care, sources at the meeting say — which suggests that the White House may be less certain about victory than officials allow publicly.

“He started out with, `We’re 13 and 0 going into health care,’” one source at the meeting said, meaning that Rahm was touting the White House’s string of pre-health care legislative victories.

“This momentum is necessary to do all these other things. We have a lot of momentum right now, and any loss spoils that momentum that we’ve built up,” was how the source described the gist of what Rahm said. A Rahm spokesperson didn’t return an email for comment.

Said one attendee: “It was the Rahm show.”

1. Why is he angry?
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 09:59 PM by RandomThoughts
And if it is a good bill, he is right, but if it protects insurance companies and not society he is wrong.

I think Rahm is concerned about getting a good bill, but he might be more concerned about what he thinks happens to the Democratic party, then what he thinks is best for all the people in society?

Note that the comment on Rahm was a bit funny, he called attacking other democrats as stupid as he does the same thing calling some democrats actions stupid.

that's stupid

A.K.A. "(D)- Corporate" - the stealth party for the politically ignorant in want of a change from the "(R)- Corporate" party, which ends up being no change at all, except for the lack of "And Jesus said...".

2. Rahm handles issues like I do (most of the time).
...and I really like that.

I just REALLY wish I knew what his agenda was.

20. I don't believe it was either "out of control" or "emotional".
It was a controlled statement delivered with the intended impact.

...and in his job, it's the perfect way to handle some (if not most) things. Rahm is Obama's "enforcer" It's his job to be the sledge hammer to Obama's measured statements.

22. Like I said, I appreciate his method, but I'd like to know his motivations.
My point is that Rahm is not some unstable hothead. He acts the way he does for a reason.

4. Out of curiosity... If it is the Rahm show... why is he saying things that are done are stupid?
I say it is the peoples show, and if legislation is in the best interest of society then it should pass, and if people stand in the way of that legislation then they should be shown as having done that.

What form it takes will show what groups are being supported, lobbyist or society.

18. Could've Been
“Look, Rahm has told the Blue Dogs they can do what they want to on health care. Maxine Waters confirmed it. When the Blue Dogs held the bill hostage, they got everything they wanted -- Rahm and Jan "bail" Schakowsky got progressives to drop their very meaningful demands, which Mike Ross acknowledged "would have led to single payer." They gave them up in exchange for a meaningless floor vote on single payer. Go team.”

10. Was it "F-king Stupid" when Rahm and James Carville attacked a fellow Dem...
...Howard Dean?

Both of them eviscerated then DNC Chairman Dean after the 2006 elections. Although the Dems won big, they said it was Dean's fault we didn't win by an even bigger margin.

Apparently, Rahm has no problem when moderate Dems like himself attack more liberal ones; it's only when the liberals take issue with the moderates that he raises a stink.

36. Well, it worked. And so did Tweety's attacks on Jim Dean on Hardball.
Jim stood his ground, but today Howard Dean distanced himself from the group he helped organize...loudly and clearly. He even said he spoke with Ben Nelson about the ad.

That sounds to me as though he is ashamed of who we are and of the ad.

He could take a stand with progressives, but he is not doing that.

I guess Rahm really has that power after all. First time Howie Dean has been on Sunday TV since he started speaking out on Medicare...and he had to sell us out at DFA.
