Trial Of ex-Rep. Renzi (R-Az) pushed back to 2010
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 03:53 PM by panader0
"The trial of former U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi has been delayed again, this time until next year.
U.S. District Judge David C. Bury set a Jan. 20 date for the federal racketeeing and insurance fraud trial of Renzi and co-defendents Andrew Beardall, Dwayne Lequire and James W. Sandlin.
The trial had been scheduled to begin Sept. 22, but attorneys for three of the four defendents said during a hearing Thursday that date wasn't feasible because of the "posture of the case," court records show.
Renzi, former business partner Sandlin and Beardall, former president of Renzi's insurance firm, were indicted in February 2008 on 35 counts stemming from allegations Renzi engineered a swap of 480 acres of federally owned mining land in Cochise County that benefited him and Sandlin, and that from 2001 to 2007 Renzi stole money from his insurance clients, according to court records."

Asshole Renzi. Tha land in question is close to where I live, although his district is up north. Renzi went to high school in this town. I know a guy who went to school with him and said he used to beat up the stoners. And notice his crimes involve insurance.
