Warning to the coward town hall disrupters. It may be easy to shout down a polite politician, but
I wouldn't want to go up against angry out of work longshoremen or any other union person. These disruters are right wing authoritarians that are tough when standing behind a bully but in a direct confrontation, they are all cowards.

1. True enough. I hope it doesn't come to that, of course,
but, like the keyboard warriors, these teabaggers are likely to underestimate who they are facing if they continue.

3. It's already been escalated past the point of being easily reigned-in.
I hope to God I'm wrong, but I have a feeling this is going to get REAL ugly, REAL fast.

4. I fear you are right. I expect that we'll shortly be reading something
very unpleasant about one of these town halls. :scared:

2. Its unfortunate
That we even have to discuss this type of crap. It sucks for the people who have actual questions and want to learn....Disrupters simply need to be pulled out so the rest can talk and ask questions.

14. There isn't one.....but it's a great idea!
Some people (when they have enough posts) will start a thread in the Lounge to introduce themselves, or if you go to a group like Pets, or Cooking and Baking, etc., you can start a thread there to introduce yourself to the group.

Welcome aboard :-).

17. How many posts
do you need before you can go to the lounge?

21. You can go to the Lounge anytime and read or post
in anyone's thread. You just can't start your own thread (in any forum) until the administration enables you to do so. Click on the green "Help" icon at the top of the page. I think you'll find answers to most questions you might have on how to use DU :hi:.

10. Exactly. Questions and dissent in the proper form is fine by me.
Mainly because I know we have the truth on our side and will be able to answer people's honest concerns.

Trouble is, the disruptors already think they "know" what's going on, and they aren't interested in listening. No give and take. They just want to dictate terms, like conservatives always want to do.

Welcome to DU.

15. Thanks everyone!
Agreed, not everyone has to agree however they should be open to listen and debate actual facts. They still might not agree in the end however at least they can respect each others opinions!

18. Yes, indeed. I will give respect to anyone who respects me.
And I will listen - even to cockamamie bullshit - if it's presented in a pleasant, polite fashion.

I'll still think I'm right, of course, but I'll listen and give others a chance to convince me.

Too bad the teabaggers won't too the same.

6. I don't like the thought of putting union members in this position.
Controlling the RW mobs is a job for police, not union members.

8. There should definitely be police
who are ready and willing to maintain order. And that includes escorting people out of the meeting, perhaps in handcuffs.

However, I do agree with the OP that there are citizens who are not going to be intimidated by some jackasses from the rabid right-wing, who will be attending these meetings. And they can play an important role in maintaining an open, orderly meeting. Also, they can help insure that the average person can feel safe to attend and speak up at these meetings.

12. Union members, in general, aren't that courageous.
Look at how easily the CEO's and the Bush Republicans ended their jobs and made them poor. There weren't any massive labor marches or strikes against that crap.

Your concept of union members belongs to an earlier era, when unions and their leaders had the courage of their convictions. I'll say it again; it's been a long time since River Rouge, hasn't it?

20. Shame that you feel that way. But now they are poor and out of work. And the disrupters are
definitely cowards. Violence will work against our cause and I don't support it. Just sayin, that if one of those whiney, cowardly disrupters push the wrong person, look out.

19. Oh you mean the UNION THUGS that are attacking those poor free-speech loving protesters?
That's the word out on the RW propaganda machine. The UNION THUGS are beating up Grannies who are worried about being euthanized. It's freaking sickening.

22. There is a lot of press being given to SEIU members attacking a black conservative
complete with racial epithets. Seen the a video of it, its not pretty.

Unions have a reputation for thuggery and actions like that will not help matters
