Wolfowitz email backfires

Suzanne Goldenberg in Washington
Wednesday April 11, 2007
The Guardian

An attempt by the World Bank president, Paul Wolfowitz, to reach out
to disaffected and angry employees backfired yesterday with a new
wave of outrage at the pay rises and promotion given to his partner.

A staff email from Mr Wolfowitz appears to have stoked further anger
at the $61,000 (£30,000) pay rise and promotion given to his partner,
Shaha Riza, two years ago.

-snip-

Monday's email is the latest in a series of tense situations between
Mr Wolfowitz and the bank's 13,000 employees. Viewed with suspicion
as the leading advocate for war on Iraq at the Pentagon, Mr Wolfowitz
is accused by some at the bank of favouring unilateral action over
consultation.

-snip-

That response has unleashed a barrage of email criticising Mr
Wolfowitz on the staff noticeboard. "People are just furious," said a
senior World Bank staffer. "There are plenty of other couples in the
bank that have faced similar situations and whoever had to move
was not compensated or promoted."

1. Yeah, he's toast.
Time to show Wolfie the door -- wonder where he'll show up next time.

2. Do all neocons share the same arrogant sense of entitlement?
As in "fuck the rules, fuck what everyone else thinks, I'm doing what I want"? Sure seems to be a common attitude among them. And they all keep getting away with it, too.

3. Their core idea is the rule of philosopher-kings manipulating publics and rulers
Titular rulers who can be properly funneled towards doing the "right" thing. I'm sure you can think of an example easily.

8. Most were trained to see themselves as "above morality" by Leo Strauss,
either directly at the U. of Chicago, or indirectly through group group reinforcement of this anti-social psychopathy. The "Noble Lie" and such. This might be a helpful intro: http://www.onpointradio.org/shows/2003/05/20030515_a_main.asp

It doesn't seem to work, brings up the wrong program. Read this http://www.alternet.org/story/15935/ or just do a search for "Leo Strauss".

5. Do the British call it a pay rise instead of a pay raise?

Or did the Guardian screw up?

Or is it a conspiracy to help the al Quaida terrorists?

I wonder if the colonists back during the 1770's called it a pay rise too.

Jeez. When you want to destroy something quickly, put a Republican in charge.
