SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Hundreds of students, parents and school employees rallied in downtown San Jose on Wednesday morning to protest state budget cuts to education.

State Superintendent Jack O'Connell joined the protesters, who marched from the San Jose Convention Center to the state building.

Organizers said state lawmakers' decision to cut $18 billion in education funding will hurt students and California's economy.

The demonstration was organized by the California School Employees Association, which represents 230,000 custodians, secretaries, cafeteria workers, technicians, bus drivers and other school employees.

5. Sadly, his incompetence exacerbated the circumstances.
It would never been as bad under Davis.

9. Disagree, Davis had his own issues, and the problem is structural

10. Yes, he would have been termed out, but all the solutions mentioned now to fix the system ...
... were first suggested by the nerd Davis.

11. Mentioned? Perhaps, passed into law, not a chance
The Gropenator can get more people to the polls than Davis ever could. The initiatives that would have addressed much of the damage still did not pass. Its structural and its going to be very hard to fix. The super majority for state budget goes back to the depression, and Prop 13 and the Gann initiative are sacred here in CA.

6. Kick and Recommend.
Note that Arnold has only cut where it hurts everyone the worst, and has not taxed the rich as should be done. He is punishing California, but as he's a Republican, why is anyone surprised?
