Kit Bond (R-Idiot): Clinton's trip was “half a bad step instead of a full bad step.”
“I think it sends the wrong message to continue to talk to them and treat them as a responsible country when they haven’t acted like a responsible country,” Sen. Kit Bond (Mo.), the senior Republican on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said before the release of the two journalists was announced.

Bond said sending Clinton was a “halfway” compromise to Obama sitting down with Kim himself, describing Clinton’s trip as “half a bad step instead of a full bad step.”

Shut up, you idiot.

Barack Obama's administration didn't trade arms for hostages.

Welcome home. The prayers of many, many people have been answered.

3. I wish he'd say that to these women's families.
The fact is, Republicans wanted to do nothing and either hope that they were freed, or simply take the chance that they would never be released. And in reality, I think most of us know that they probably would have preferred the latter since their release undercuts tensions between the two sides and lessens any chance of actual conflict -- which is still their ultimate goal.

4. and i am sure if it were bond's family over there.... he would just let them sit there
and rot because we don't talk to anyone we don't agree with. imagine if reagan hadn't talked to gorbechev... after all, we were in the cold war and they were our enemies. but was that different??? he talked to gobechev, and we didn't have people imprisoned there, did we?? these jerks make me sick. instead of being happy to see a good outcome out of this, they have to piss all over everything because it was under a dem's watch... and clinton was involved.

20. Bond and his ilk lack empathetic or sympathetic skills
If it happens to someone else, then big whoop. But, if it happens to them, well...that's a different story.

Now, if we can mobilize everyone to push for single payer for the next 5-6 weeks, instead of a pretty-please public option that's *not weakened too much*, and instead of *co-ops* that are a flimsy sham, we might just light the fire.

it was a bad step (or half a bad step) to negotiate the release of two American hostages in a peaceful manner.
