Rumor: Palin wanted three-hour radio show
http://www.broadcastingcable.com/blog/Fates_Fortunes/20621-Syndicating_Sarah_Palin_Part_2_The_Next_Rush_Limbaugh_.php

“While not exactly shopping the GOP’s 2008 vice presidential candidate, sources say Palin representatives have been quietly testing the waters to see how much interest radio syndicators have for her,” reports the publication.
My own sources say much what they said when asked about a TV show for Palin: Don’t think so. While you might assume Palin would be a better fit for conservative radio than the less partisan world of syndicated broadcast TV, my sources say the country’s biggest radio conglomerate, Clear Channel, has already passed on her.

The main objection to Palin as radio talk-show host is that she would have to hold forth for three hours a day. While some of her recent remarks may indicate a talent for improvisation, anyone who’s listened to Rush Limbaugh or Thom Hartmann or Don Imus or Howard Stern or even Ryan Seacrest knows it’s the rare personality who can blab extemporaneously for 15 hours a week. And relying on callers to get you through won’t help, because as we’ve all experienced, callers-in are usually more embarrassing than compelling.

13. question:
Is Clear Channel owned by Bain Capital (which is owned by Mitt Romney)? If so, another reason Clear Channel would just say NO. But, I cannot imagine ANYONE wanting Palin on the radio - her fans have to SEE her, not hear her screechy voice.

24. Vote Democrat Scarf
I missed the entire story. Spotted at a Palin event in Reno, Nev., Oct. 21. Yes, the scarf says, "Vote." And yes, those appear to be donkeys.

Edited on Wed Jul-29-09 11:11 PM by dysfunctional press
i assumed that she had some kind of deal all sewn up.

is her book money the only sure thing she's got...IF she's got that?

maybe they could do a 'fish-out-of-water' reality show about a family of low-class rednecks who strike it rich in alaskan corruption and move to the hamptons...

the wasilla hillbillies this fall on the cw.

28. The word here is that the book deal was apparently quite lucrative
but under our pesky ethics laws, she couldn't use any of the money while in office.

8. Not her best venue -- hard to be a GILF without the visual. . .
radio will only highlight her mind and, as those in the medium are well aware, there's nothing worse on radio than dead air. . .

9. Some idiots here have RW talk show on the FM that last hours ...
Hours of nonsense, personal stories with no beginning and no end, lots of nothing, and the few things said are repeat several times, in slow motion, over and over again.

Amazing. And people listen to them because they have traffic every 10 minutes at rush hour.

KTAR, check them up, it's dumb-founding.

10. She does not have a radio voice
A three-hour a day radio program is going to shrink her base like the iceberg she used to be able to see from her house.

At most I'd picture her an hour a day at Fox.

17. I think someone should give her a game show
"What does Gov. Sarah mean when she says..."

The whole concept would be to give Ms Palin a topic, have the lady talk extemporaneously for 30 seconds about said topic, then have three unfortunate souls attempt to guess the topic from the incoherent diatribe in less than a minute.

Cash prizes for guessing the topic, bonus cash for a coherent translation.

22. You don't put brain dead beauty queens on radio.
Find the Miss South Carolina clip and avert your eyes. It's 20 times worse.

Palin's fans like her because of the way she looks. They can watch her and just let their brains go blurry. Three hours of that screechy voice spewing her incoherent, stream-of-consciousness slogan trains will drive anyone away.

23. She should have her own Fox reality TV show
Just have the camera follow her around for a weekly show, presenting various aspects of her ultra bizarre life including church sermons with her witch doctor, moose hunting, handling the surprise pregnancies in her family, attending her husband's snowmobile races, saying her trademark "you betcha" a few dozen times in that piercing voice.

She wouldn't have to really say or do anything except be herself. It would be kind of a more bizarre version of Anna Nicole Smith's old show. While I don't want to run down Anna Nicole Smith, I think that people tuned in to her show to see just how stupid she was and how her life revolved around eating, sleeping, and defecating and not much else in the way of productivity. People tuned in to laugh AT her and not that much with her. The Sarah Palin reality show would be like the Anna Nicole Smith show times ten.

27. Gryphen at The Immoral Minority comments
http://theimmoralminority.blogspot.com/

Can you just imagine what it would be like to hear Sarah Palin ad libbing on the radio for two to three hours, five days a week? It would be like shoving red hot pokers in your ears and slowly twisting them until you passed out from the searing pain.

And what would the callers into a show that featured Sarah Palin be like?

Oh God my mind reels at the very thought!

Then again, she'd have to shell out for the website, equipment, and so on. As a republican who is accustomed to sucking off the public teat, she just couldn't have that, now could she?
