Is DU a waystation or your destination?
I'll keep this short and simple.

Are you comfortable with just signing on here daily and preaching to the choir or should there be more, do you think?

Should we use DU as a place to exchange ideas, test our own and maybe vent a little before or after we actually DO something to further the policies we say we'd like implemented? Or, is it okay to just discuss how well or badly the nation is being governed?

people use DU for whatever they want or need. There's no overarching purpose to this site, beyond "discussion." The posters make of that what they will.

as for myself, it's pretty much social for me. I talk to people here about whatever the topic is, because I enjoy communicating with them

2. No/Yes/on occasion - It's a good place to sharpen your understanding
of the various issues.

3. I hope people do more
What they use the site for is up to them, but I sure as hell hope they don't just come here and bitch and do nothing else. I don't know how someone can hang around here and not at least make a phone call or two.

4. I think for many of us DU is a place of refuge, mostly free of freepers & anti-Democrats.
Yes it is the DEMOCRATICUNDERGROUND.com where we are expected to support Democrats and Democratic candidates. No, we do not have to always agree with them and may give constructive criticism and that gives many cover to post whatever they want about Democrats.

5. More a temperature gauge for me.
It is a good sized sample of almost entirely Democrats.

Of course, it can be pretty depressing for those of us hoping for actual change, too.
