Did the American People Vote For...gasp...Socialism???

Yes they did. (Don't fall for the desperate propaganda garp of the Repukes that the country is "center right"). Think about what the people actually said in the last election.

They very strongly said "da guberment gotta do somethin' about _____ (fill in the blank)". That blank could read: healthcare, gouging by oil companies, unemployment, financial collapse, lousy jobs, lousy trade agreements, shipping jobs overseas, corporate crime, Wall Street organized crime, and the list is infinite. Bottom line is that they came screaming to the government to help them because they realized that they, individually, can do nothing to stop the rape and pillage. (And the most hypocritical thing of all is that the great "capitalists" were the first pigs to the trough demanding "da gubmerment help them"!!)

Unfortunately, the great ignorant masses in this country have been trained like Pavlov's dog to go nutso at the word "socialism", when that IS EXACTLY what they said they want.

If the people ever grasped the concept of democratic socialism, they would realize that that is exactly what they have been wanting from their government. The right and the capitalist criminals at the top have people ingrained into believing that if you have "socialism", it means "communism" and we will all be working in the salt mines. Ignorance is America's greatest product these days and we cannot survive the real world of today on a foundation of ignorance. This may sound odd, but I don't think the American people have suffered enough yet to really wake up and become "frightening" political. When they do, the fat, rich boys better find a way to leave the country....fast.

and how the AMA called it "socialized medicine". Wonder how many of the right wingers who cringe at the "socialism" tag would give up their Medicare?

There will always be some level of small government interference in any economic system but a small amount of governemtn interference does not equal socialism.

"da guberment gotta do somethin' about healthcare" as an example - I want Obama to fix the healthcare system and is part of why I voted for him though I don't support a single payer plan or even a general public option (at this point).

7. I vote for goverment of the people

by the people for the people.
If we the people decide socialism is the answer and elect leaders who champion socialist policies then I see no problem with it.
Our form of goverment is for us,the people to decide.Not some corporatista or bankster.

9. Problem is pukes think Socialism is a gov't that isn't disfunctional

and actually works. They want incompetent politicians who actively do nothing, nothing but start wars that is.

Then there are the citizens who need protection from what big corporations are doing to them in terms of layoff's, cutting off their health care, sending them 3K dollar cell phone bills, jacking up their interest rates to 30%, raising their college tuition 10% every year, etc.

Getting the tide to turn for those things is a lot different from a government that tries to run every aspect of the economy. Which no one is suggesting.

10. One irony about righties:

If you notice their language about military spending (their sacred cow except for any after effects on vets) is very socialist. "It'll create jobs. It's good for the economy." What I'd love to hear a rationale for is why something of more practical use to the populace is somehow a waste of money. I mean just think of medication as an artillery shell and illness as terrorists.
