msnbc w/david brooks

a few minutes ago he was on with norah o'd and john harwood.

the subject was john ensign.

brooks said something like republicans just need love and he once was sitting at dinner and a republican senator had his hand on brooks' inner thigh the whole time.

norah and harwood jaws dropped and asked who it was. brooks declined to name the senator.

i wasn't paying close attention but that's the gist of what he said.

2. I was half-watching it too

I had to run it back on the DVR to make sure he said what I thought he said. You're right.

And, I think he had a liquid lunch like one of the talking heads asked him.

4. Yea that's what he said. Brooks was in rare form today. Nora

even asked him is he had a drink with lunch! He made the general statement about all politicians that they all desperately need to be loved, and are all very lonely men. He compared some to slobbering St. Bernards when they get to work around all those beautiful young interns. Nora asked him is this was just a MAN thing or if female politicians do the same thing, and he said he did think it was genetic!

10. Video posted at DU, link below. Question is, why did Brooks spend whole dinner with Senator's hand

on his inner thigh? (If "the whole time" was accurate & not exaggeration, that is.) Why did Brooks evidently acquiesce to this behavior? That's what's most strange about the story and Brooks appears not to realize it.
