it depends on what is being said about them.

I am sure lots of negative threads on these folks may rise like cream unde this new system.

Also the presentation by the poster makes a difference.

The McKinney thread is a great poster AND he makes a good impassioned argument.

On top of that it would not HURT for a pro-McKinney thread or Kucinich or Moore to rise to the top because these are all convenient right wing targets associated with the left and they are essentially pretty powerless (plus to attack them would be just too obvious).

Maybe people will now feel more free to supprt EVERY thread tey like to offset the negatve energy potentially coming from trolls,

But I do not think McKinney, Moore or Kucinich are threatening enough to the status quo to make them important targets. They are marginal left wingy icons already which are often used by the right to demean us to the independents and center-left.

8. On issues of broad consensus the unrec feature won't hurt

On important issues upon which there is much debate or contention the threads will not make it to the front page BECAUSE the system is prone to allowing organized unrec operations for things the right wing SERIOUSLY does not want to get to the front page.

I can think of several:

LIHOP/MIHOP

Investigations/Prosecution of Torture

Prosecution of Bush/Cheney (and if this had been here before impeachment threads)

Truth commissions

Marginal figures like these are too easy to let go.

Watch what makes it and yes the sily threads wil die off but really good subjects will too

Only those posts which are uncontroversial or not contentious will ever get much exposure and make the front page
