2. It's funny that the same M$M that made him guilty, is now trying to re-brand him
I don't know if he was/wasn't guilty. I barely followed all that, but when a skeletal looking pop singer is talking about little boys and Jesus juice, chances are said singer is heading into non-profitability.

The M$M made tons of money over alleging his crimes 24/7.

Now they're forced to re-brand him back into profitability.

How weird is that?

3. I Think Many People are Afraid of
being duped or branded as naive. Or just generally think the worst of people.

MJ was asked in an interview about having children in his bed, and he replied that that was always sexualized by his critics, but that instead it was about nuturing, etc, etc, etc. It was a reply that I cannot imagine a pedophile or child molester trying to hide his guilt could possibly have made.

Based on that I have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

7. So OJ is innocent?
Edited on Tue Jul-07-09 03:21 PM by badacid
So is Bush, Cheney etc?

Unless of course you are the type of person who believes that you are allowed to pick and choose laws and their application based on your point of view.

Kinda like those who use leviticus to refute gay marriage -
"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:13)

but ignore the following passages in the same book -
"But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you." (Leviticus 11:10)

or
"For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20: 9)

In America, in the eyes of the law, you are innocent until proven guilty.

The public is free to come to whatever conclusion they so choose.

11. That is only the criminal-trial standard, "guilty beyond the shadow of a reasonable doubt."
The standard for verdicts in civil courts is lower. Something like, "preponderance of the facts."

And of course, the indictment standard presumes guilt, or there'd be practically no criminal trials in the first place.

It has nothing to do with what you can SAY about others. As your excellent username shows.

That being said, I a) have an open mind either way about what may or may not have happened between MJ and children; and b) don't really care all that much.

Is that bad?

for a grown man to sleep with a child that is not a family member.

In fact, it's a good idea a child never sleeps with an adult period.

Yet, I don't believe sleeping with a child automatically = sexual activity.

My personal theory on Jackson was that he was castrated.

14. That's in a court of law, fella
The rest of us are free to draw our own conclusions.

I wouldn't have let MJ near my kids, OJ near my daughter or Lizzie Borden (also acquitted) near me.

16. "Innocent until proven guilty" is only operative in a criminal court.
Not the court of public opinion.
