4. Thank you for this.
Distractions for the sheeple to defect attention from health care, Iran, the wars, and the implosion of the Republican party. What will Miss Sarah do to refocus attention on her?

8. Yes, people dying--one from cancer, another from a heart attack--
--just distractions.

Lighten up, will ya?

9. I'm not into celebrity worship.
There is an essential debate going on across the country about health care. The voices of people, of voters, have already begun to sway that debate. What happens in the next few days is important. So yeah, distractions can be harmful. Or don't you give a shit about what else is going on in the world?

13. De nada, Cat. I just thought someone should start a thread not celebrity related
Sadly, it turns out, this is not that kind of thread.

5. K&R
I hadn't seen anything about those Somali amputations. Horrendous. Monsters.

Thank you for this. Let's keep it in perspective, eh?

6. Selfishly I would pick health care
because I'm getting on in age and have pre-existing conditions and am not employed right now.

BUT, reality is climate change, energy production, and population on then planet.

We are about to render the seas devoid of large species of fish. And climate change is going to destroy what is left of the coral reefs.

Health care is important, various celebrities dying is a human interest story, political upheaval is worth noting. But it all pales to insignificance if we, as a species, don't address resource usage and our climate.

7. Nothing selfish about it.
And you are not alone -- I wonder how many other people fall into this "gap" in the health care system.

11. I'm just one person of nearly 7 billion.
The environment and energy production and sustainable lifestyle are more important.

15. These threads are pretty patronizing.
I suspect most DUers are very capable of following multiple stories during any given day.

16. Sanford, Iran and North Korea
Fawcett and Jacko don't even come close...they're just a bunch of fucking entertainers...the three I mentioned are real news..the US needs to grow up and worry about and work on the things that actually matter, not some freak who shuffles around and some blond bimbo with fluffy hair!
