The Fractured State of the GOP
I'm remembering the boastful swagger of republicans just a few short years ago. "I'm a Reagan REPUBLICAN". "I'm a Conservative REPUBLICAN". "I'm a Compassionate Conservative REPUBLICAN". "I'm a Fiscal Conservative REPUBLICAN", I'm a Socially Conservative REPUBLICAN".

Then it all started to change during the second regime of the bush* admin. More and more republicans started identifying themselves as "Moderate Republicans". When that label failed to put enough distance between them and the nutjobs running the country, they started calling themselves "Independents". When that became just another code word for "I'm a Republican", they tried to change the meme to "I'm a Moderate Independent". Some of them even trying to explain away their their political affiliation as "Fiscal Conservative with LIBERTARIAN leanings".

I noticed several articles and a couple segments from news shows last night regarding Sanford, where he was described by some republicans as a Libertarian, and he was really not one of us anyway.

The GOP is so fractured at this point, that I don't think it will ever be a viable, competitive entity in this country again. And that my friends is good news.

RIP GOP.
