FOX noise has spent ALL DAY calling the Iranian regime leftists and Marxists
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 05:19 PM by Joanne98
They just did a segment on the 1979 Iranian revolution calling it Islamic and Marxist.

Wasn't Marx the one who declared God dead? Just saying.......

WHY do we have to put up with this shit? It's getting to the point where FOX should have it's broadcasting license revoked for the good of the country. I mean really. Shouldn't they have to be a little bit close to the truth. They just say anything they feel like no matter how ridiculous it is.

News channels should have rules.

I hope Media Matters is keep track of this.

4. They were. But don't tell that to FOX. They don't know how to fact check anything.

Or they're just liars.

Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Tahal. Then, they report.

It was Nietzsche, although I can't say whether Marx ever quoted him. Their lives did overlap.

Which certainly couldn't be interpreted as an endorsement of faith.

to them all those things are bad, therefore the same thing.
In actuality, Fascism pretty well describes the Repubs.

10. You need a Fox-English dictionary.
They define "Marxist" as "people we don't agree with". It really has no other meaning to them.
And Marx was the one who called religion "the opiate of the masses".

13. They have a very limited understanding of governments if they
think the Iranian government is anything but an Islamic Theocracy. Even the word Islamofascist is totally wrong because Fascism is a totalitarian nationalist and corporatist ideology, not a religious one. And Marxism is where the state owns everything in the name of the people and the people work for the state. Religion is suppressed under Marxism.

They are out of control, and well compensated for their insanity.

They will not rest until Obama is killed and the power brokers they personally approve run our lives.

they are Muslims who want more freedoms , notn people fighting against islam as these ignorant racist bigoted wingnuts think.

We don't.

We can turn the channel or turn the TV off.

If my life was such a joyless experience that I had no better way to spend all day Saturday than watching FOX News, I'd probably kill myself.

26. That's hardly the point. Millions of Americans are rabidly loyal unquestioning FOX viewers.
They totally believe that FOX, and no one else, tells them the truth. This isn't about taking personal offense, this is about unfiltered LIES being broadcast to millions of our fellow citizens who BELIEVE those lies.

At the very least, it's extremely damaging to public debate. At the very worst it's quite dangerous to inflame one segment of the public with hatred toward the left based on overt lies. Wasn't that shooting in the Unitarian Church evidence enough of what this kind of propaganda can lead to?

35. Actually that is the point.
The OP seems to suggest that she's spent the whole day watching FOX News. I'm saying that's a fucking insane waste of time. Watching the shit and complaining about it accomplishes absolutely nothing. It's worse than nothing. Time that could have been spent finding a bit of relaxation or joy or to make the world a better place was spent watching a bunch of irritating pricks on TV.

If it's truly that much of a blight on public discourse, then quick fucking whining about it, formulate a constructive course of action and fucking do something about it.

If people at DU really think that these people poison the public debate, then why do they give assholes like Beck, Hannity, and Coulter so much free publicity here under the pretense of pretending to be offended by what they're saying?

30. Not if the television in the bar/office/store/whatever is "controlled by corporate"
And do you have any idea how ubiquitous FAUX SNUS is in public places?

One person posing on this topic recently mentioned FAUX giving free TVs to places like bars and offices if they keep it set to FAUX, and also mentioned discounted/free cable services to those places- if it's kept on FAUX.

If this is true, isn't it an antitrust issue?

34. Believe it or not, I've been known to frequent public places on occasion.
And my exposure to that bullshit is pretty damn limited.

The bars I go to are bars frequented by normal people: you know the sort that either have music or if there are TV's, they're tuned to sports stations not news stations.

but I could still argue that the American Religious Right is just like the Iranian Regime, don't they call themselves the "Radical" Right? There's even an entire neocon screed (against those calling the Religious Right: conservative) devoted to how the Radical Right borrows elements from the Marxist revolution.

FOX is a cable channel, so unless the FCC is granted authorization to regulate cable channels by requiring them to produce program in the public interest, it will not happen.

33. Fox lack of understanding and logic baffles me.
Religion is antithetical to real Marxism.
Theocracy automatically means Conservative. Ahmadinojahd's
biggest problem in his own country was going to far right.
He clamped down on dress, The Morality Police were emboldened
and have been on the prowl. He has not looked out for the
financial well-being(Conservative) of the citizens. Spending
so much on defense and getting involved in other country's
battles (Hezbollah, etc) and not enough time developing jobs.

The above is anything but Marxists. Sometimes trying to hide
their conservatism, Fox actually comes across as ignorant of
of facts.
