3. So did my brother. He was born off-base
in Panama. I remember the doctor saying he was a US citizen, but could never be president, since he was born outside the Canal Zone. And when he was 18, he could choose which citizenship he wanted.

9. It seems like it's mostly Western Hemisphere countries that were
colonized and ruled by the colonizers on independence, so they had to grant citizenship to anyone born there otherwise there wouldn't be many citizens. Just a guess.

12. Canada is there
That's about it. But we shouldn't simply go around immitating other countries like monkeys for the fun of it, IMO.

5. Okay Alexander you wait just one second
glen beck has conservative values and can cry at the drop of a hat so there's no way he can be wrong about anything.

Allow me an off the wall question. Christians say life begins at conception. bobby jindal was conceived (born??) outside the United States, his mother gave "birth" to him in this country. If life begins at conception how could he be an american citizen? Grasping at straws? Trying to rationalize the christian mind?

20. Sometimes we even extend it to those who weren't born here
Any US citizen who grew up in the US and goes abroad can pass that citizenship to their child born abroad.

The Irish even include grandchildren of their emigrants.

A country that did not extend citizenship to all born in it risks creating stateless people or a population on potentially alienated people who are there but not part of the body politic.

Do the likes of Beck even realize that? Do they want this country to have a large population of people who aren't citizens? That would be suicidal as a nation.

And some of them would marry citizens and have families. Does Beck want to create a lot of legal questions that just aren't worth figuring out?

It's no big deal to extend the citizenship to everyone born here. Well, except to white supremacists.
