I apologize for my state ... but he comes from the far west reaches which border Nebraska and South Dakota.

My family was recently at the Tulip Festival in Orange City - the most republican little city in the state of Iowa. The tradition calls for the city's mayor (dressed in Dutch costume) to inspect the city street prior to the tulip parade to declare whether it is fit for the presence of the Tulip Queen. Each time it is not, so the city residents dressed in full dutch costume water down and scrub the street. This year, Steve King accompanied the mayor who is called the town crier for this exercise.

So, as they were walking down the street my uncle yelled out ... "Oh wow, there is the town crier and the village idiot." It was a classic moment that I will not soon forget.
