Five minutes of your life that you will never get back
William Shatner sings, well not exactly sings sings, but sorta performance poetry hams his way through Rocketman. Actually introduced by Bernie Taupin, probably moments shortly before his suicide.

2. Not sure how literal you are being....
but just in case, you DO know Bernie Taupin is not dead, don't you?

But, yes, I've heard ole Bill doing his singing here..... Good for a laugh or two, for sure.

11. Again "probably moments shortly before his suicide."
Do people really need a big dripping sarcasm sign on top of that?

That we still have Bernie with us is testimony to the restorative powers of Shatner's music.

6. Where have you been?
This is so old, it's gained Golden Oldie Classic status.

And why did you think Bernie Taupin killed himself?

12. I have a question
and it is the same question I had when I saw this a few years ago - is it supposed to be funny? self-parody? I'm leaning toward no. I think it was to be taken seriously.

14. Yeah, I agree. I think he's really thinking this is ground breaking stagecraft.
I don't see the camp, but with the Shat it's really hard to tell. On the other hand, what does Bernie Taupin (may he rest in peace) get out of it?

16. Cocaine
It was the 70s and they were all whacked out of their skulls on cocaine, I guess. That was my theory about Cop Rock in the 90s. BTW - cocaine, they say, is what caused Taupin to take his own life.

19. How he did it (slowly)
from wiki:
Personal life

Taupin married his girlfriend Maxine Feibelman in 1971. The two divorced in 1976 and Taupin remarried in 1979 to Toni Lynn Russo, sister of actress Rene Russo. He and Russo divorced in 1991. Taupin then married Stephanie Haymes on 21 August 1993 and has two stepdaughters with her. They divorced in 1998. Taupin is now married to Heather Lynn Hodgins Kidd, whom he wed 27 March 2004 and has fathered two daughters, Charley Indiana and Georgey Devon.

15. Family Guy did a great parody of that song.
Stewie sings it note for note the same way William Shatner does.

20. I have albums--yes, vinyl!--of both Shatner's and Nimoy's
venture into the world of music. I also have one from David McCallum as well, but McCallum's isn't a farce like the other two. I also confess to having two albums from The Man from UNCLE. Can you tell something was in the water back then?
