Here, we don't worship Sarah Palin, but recognize her as the trashy schemer she is, whose entire career is based upon her alleged sexuality and her willing use of that quality to advance her political career. She was clearly chosen by McCain because she made his naughty parts tingle.

don't you just commend Gloria Steinam and Betty Friedan's work with NOW to make us aware of the issue? Aren't you happy that women's lib came along to change the culture so that poor Sarah can't get picked on?

Can you denounce Rush? How 'bout Joe Scarborough's treatment of women?

Come on... sing it, sister... I know you feel a real debt to these women, NOW, and feminism for making Sarah's complaint even possible. or, do you not like denouncing friends?

even when it is directed at a women they disagree with. That doesn't make them a Palin apologist.
Why do liberal men think that because a woman is attractive "her whole career is based on her sex appeal?" Why do so many liberal men and women think it is okay to barf the most offensive sexist garbage at or about any woman?

really?

REALLY???

When is Palin going to apologize for increasing the DEATH THREATS against the two little Obama girls???? The Secret Service asked her to tone it down because her death rallies riled up the fringe element who were making legitimate, verified death threats against the entire Obama family -- including the little girls.

SHE REFUSED.

WE DON'T FORGET!!!!!!

Where I come from, LIFE of two little girls wins over the hurt feelings of a Governor and her 18 year old daughter, who is a public figure.

20. I have a better example of a "sick tabloid" :
letting your teenage daughter who gave birth out of wedlock dress up in a cap and gown and holding her newborn preach about something she neither believes is "realistic" nor which she herself ever practiced, in order to make a buck and gain some political capital among the hypocritical, anti-intellectual crowd.

Now, that's tabloid.

Post first, read later.

Rumors about Sarah and sexual indiscretions surfaced shortly after her nomination last August, and apparently the stories were "out there" before that, but since she was being fairly noncontroversial as governor nobody was paying much attention. She's flipped so completely, though, in the past year that now anything is fair game. So many people here are just completely sick of her now, even people who formerly supported her, that we're likely to believe just about anything.

Obviously you can't stop me from posting as I like. I merely expressed some minor outrage at the judgmental tone of your post.

And my retort was "doing what I ...wish" with your post. I called you on being a sanctimonious wet-blanket. I assumed you could read into my post the oft-mentioned caveat: "if you don't like what's posted, perhaps you shouldn't open the thread."

MM, you are certainly entitled to express your opinion. You paid your dime to be here.
On the other hand, I'm entitled to object to your opinion, even if it *wasn't* rude and condescending. Since I found it to be both rude, and condescending, I posted that opinion.

There doesn't seem to be much more to say, but go ahead, if you choose. I agree that you have the right to.

SO even if they had the info, they wouldn't have used it. I remember very well the day the ** hit the fan, and Obama called all of our volunteer teams to a special meeting where we were told in no uncertain terms that "families were off limits" and we were NOT to discuss Gov Palin's family in any way.

They were serious about it, too.

And of course, he must have figured her stance on the issues would be enough for most thinking people. he was right.

42. Why are Americans so fascinated with the private sex lives of
their political leaders? Have they nothing better to do? Republicans
especially are fond of this issue, but they, at least, have an ulterior
motive - they hope to get more votes from the religious fundamentalists.
Correct? But why are some Democrats falling for this nonsense? Even
public figures have the right to some privacy.

When we were involved in the big uproar over Clinton's Monica affair,
the Europeans were shaking their heads in dismay. Are Americans really
like teen-agers, as far as sexuality goes -- still in the curiosity
and experimental stage?

It was well known (in Europe, at least) that the then president of France
(was it Mitterand? whose wife had died) was having his daughter (by his
mistress) serve as hostess at things like State Functions. Nobody
batted an eye.

Extra-marital affairs happen all over the world, and at approximately the
same rate. To pretend to anything else is sheer hypocrisy!

Republicans outsmarted Democrats on this one. They, at least, did it
for political gain. They'll do anythng for political gain. What can
be said about Democrats who fall for this b.s.?

51. Because it has always been about the HYPOCRISY!!!!
The Republicans spent millions of our money on Clinton's BJ. They needed to find anything to make him ineffective (I'm saying this and I'm not a Clinton fan). What I have against Palin is her appearance of being for women when she's not--how despicable is it to make a victim pay for their own rape kit? And, preaching abstinence only, when it hasn't really worked for her own child.

Does anyone remember the woman who refused to LIE about Clinton (I believe her and her husband were put in jail by Starr)? I guess he thought he could force her to lie, but she wouldn't do it. Now, there's all these excuses for Ensign. You should hear some of the news in Nevada. "Oh, this is a private matter", "he should be forgiven." Well, apparently his affair lasted about eight months, not a one-time deal BJ!!!! But, it's a Republican--"nothing to see here folks, move on."

Most Democrats don't run on the "we're morally superior" platform. We are human and we are fallible.

54. Right on! Its the damn hypocrisy of these sanctimonious bastards.
This latest episode about Ensign makes me wonder if the Hamptons weren't blackmailing him. That would be icing on the cake providing a complete demonstration of Republican Family values. Maybe he can complain that he was seduced by this vamp in order to be blackmailed. This might not fly to well since it has been revealed that he admitted to a close associate that his two week disappearance in 2002 was because of an earlier affair.
