meet the freeper behind the anti-Letterman "rally" to be
Edited on Sun Jun-14-09 04:39 AM by Syrinx
Here's a post he made about Letterman on the favorite website of domestic terrorists.

He's even set up a website for his little project. It's odd that he imitates the look of the Drudge Report with that little page of his. And I noticed some AdGardener code in his html source, though I couldn't find any actual ads showing up.

Here's the whois information:

Tennessee Democrats are all too familiar with Mr. Leahy.

A prominent Middle Tennessee Republican and tea party organizer has filed a lawsuit against a blogger for revealing his tax troubles.

Nationwide Tea Party Coalition co-founder and Williamson County Republican Michael Patrick Leahy filed a libel lawsuit naming Stephanie Grasmick and challenging her claim that Leahy committed tax fraud.

Documents posted at Teablogging show tens of thousands of dollars in tax liens and civil and small claims judgments against Leahy. On Twitter, Leahy admitted hours ago that tax liens is an accurate statement, but took issue with claims that he has committed tax fraud.

Leahy is a prominent figure in a national conservative movement to protest taxes. One of his tea parties organized Rutherford County Republicans to protest taxes and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Leahy was elected as a delegate to the Republican National Committee as an at-large delegate from the State of Tennessee. Leahy currently hosts two programs on Pajamas TV: TCOTonPJTV and The Tea Party Coalition Show. You can read more of his accomplishments on his website.

More.

1. These tools are making a mountain out of an anthill...
It just goes to show that they don't have anything better to protest about.

2. Grasping at straws.....
must get tiring after awhile.

I'm guessing the most they will get out this pathetic spectacle is a slight boost in Lettermans ratings while at the same time looking like complete douche bags....as usual.

3. "Letterman Leads Late-Night Ratings"
Edited on Sun Jun-14-09 04:33 AM by Syrinx
I don't know if Palin has affected things one way or the other. I don't think Conan is a good fit for 11:30.

Just seven days into the new competition in late night, there was a new leader on Tuesday night, at least in the preliminary ratings, as David Letterman, right with Julia Roberts, passed Conan OBrien to take over first place among the late-night shows. Mr. OBriens numbers fell in the so-called overnight ratings for a seventh straight night since his premiere as the host of NBCs Tonight Show on June 1.

5. There can't really be that many people with the time to waste on turning out
for that particular rally, right? Picking the lint out of one's belly button seems like a more valuable use of time than turning out for something that stupid.

In fine FReeper tradition, though, I hope he has enough porta-potties lined up...

But I could be wrong. This will either be really big, or really little.

15. Oh, for Christ's sake!
Talk about milking non-news stories... I was waiting to hear more about the backlash after the Iranian elections, but instead got Wolf Blitzer interviewing Sarah Palin on this... x(

I've been in the Letterman studio audience and he couldn't have been nicer. He was very cordial, even came out after the show and thanked us for coming, unnecessary, but thoughtful nonetheless. :-)

This story was over when he made his apology speech. It's Palin who is dragging this out, and distorting everything he says. I heard his Top Ten list last Monday and I didn't even notice the offending joke. The one that caught my attention was his "slutty flight attendant" comment, but he's said far worse things about Cheney...

Thanks for the info! K&R! :hi:

30. LOL. I missed that thread...
But did see a few other comments elsewhere and the consensus seems to be approval of "slutty flight attendants..." x(

However, Dave is dating himself. Since I've been flying, male flight attendants are as numerous as female. ;)

And I agree with you. What is up with that beehive?! :eyes:

17. Mountain out of a mole hill,
I agree.

OTOH, I think these showbiz types should remain as A political as possible. It seems the late shows, since Letterman moved to CBS, have been in a daily ratings battle as this article suggests. Why would any of them choose to take political positions which would or could alienate 50% of the population? I know there is a long tradition of political satire on the late shows, but I also think it is important for them to be evenhanded and not overly partisan and certainly not cruel with their satire.

for the jokes they told? And how about anti-Rush and anti-McCain rallies for the nasty jokes they told about Chelsea Clinton.

20. Don't forget the huge "protests" at MSNBC against that "sexist" Keith Olbermann
by the PUMA contingent last year.

You may recall that several of them decided he was a horrible sexist because he wasn't doing everything in his power to make Hillary look better than Obama, and thus decided to stage a protest at 30 Rock to get him fired.

I think a whole 20 people showed up, maybe.

This guy won't do much either.

23. Aren't they scheduling this for when everyone is getting out of work?
NYers are going to have a field day with these idiots.

Their little small group versus the swarm of vocal and witty and VERY BLUE hoardes descending from office buildings in midtown.

Hope someone takes a video and posts it. It will be must-see.

My beloved NYers do not fail us now. It's been a while since we got to laugh at the tea party pics!
