I love the way Lauer asks for permission to discuss this and Palin exhales "If we MUST..."

A day after calling late night television host David Letterman pathetic for making some (what he later admitted were ugly) jokes about her daughters, Alaskas Republican governor Sarah Palin wouldnt let it die during an appearance on Fridays Today show.

Palin told NBCs Matt Lauer that she thought Letterman was went too far by, as she put it, joking about the statutory rape of her 14-year-old daughter.

Palin also attacked the audience for laughing at Lettermans jokes, calling it
a sad commentary on where we are as a culture, as a society, to chuckle and laugh through comments such as he had made the other night. I think its quite unfortunate.

After Lauer pointed out that Letterman indicated that his staff at made a mistake about which daughter attended a New York Yankees baseball and was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez, the losing 2008 vice presidential candidate for the GOP lashed back that people would have to be extremely naive to believe that very convenient excuse.

Palin told Lauer no one in her family would accept Lettermans offer to appear on his show, and she implied that her 14-year-old daughter wouldnt be safe around the famous CBS late night host.
