Michael Moore takes the bull by its horns, finds a new focus

By Anthony Breznican / USA Today

Every crusader needs an archenemy, but for a while Michael Moore seemed to be running out of foes.

The auto industry he criticized 20 years ago in Roger & Me has crumbled; the president he brutalized in Fahrenheit 9/11 left office with basement-scraping approval numbers; and the man he supported for president, Barack Obama, not only won but also made it a priority to revamp the nation's health-care system, the subject of Moore's Sicko.

With all the muck seemingly raked, Moore was planning an encore of sorts, going after George W. Bush again with a film that, he said a year ago, would focus on "all the other things they got away with over the past eight years while we were all distracted with the war."

But circumstances soon delivered Moore a more current villain: the financial industry.

Moore says it wasn't hard to change gears. "When we started out to make this film, I didn't have an end point," he says. "It was: If we're open-minded we'll run across things we otherwise wouldn't have seen." .........(more)

2. With all the corruption, theft , hate and autoritarian idiocy
I doubt Moore will ever run out of "archenemies"

3. Moore loves easy targets like Bush and Republicans.
I don't think he's so good at pointing out the hypocrisy of people on the left. He wants to stay friends with Democrats, for instance, so in Sicko he wasn't so willing to point out Democratic Congresscreatures who took health care and insurance money, and attack them on their pretensions.

There are a lot of people who hate the bank and auto industry bailouts, for instance - not all of them are on the right. I don't think he'll be willing to attack the Obama administration for that. He's kind of whined about why the auto companies aren't making high speed trains or trolleys or horsecarts or whatever, but he hasn't publicly attacked them about it.

Did you see The Big One? Bill Clinton gets it pretty good in that film.

11. Never even heard of the film until now.
However, I will try to hunt it down...although it has nothing to do with his current status with the Congresscreatures that are betraying their constituents.

10. Yeah, but Ms. Clinton isn't a Congresscreature any more.
There are a LOT more powerful and tenured Congresscreatures out there who are considered "blue dogs." They are constantly noted here on DU. I think Moore is reluctant to take them on. Like I said, he likes his easy targets, people he can easily dominate.

7. Read chapter 10 of "Stupid White Men."
It's titled "Democrats, DOA" & he takes the dem party to task, starting with Bill Clinton, "...one of the best Republican Presidents we've ever had." He took the dems to task in F 9/11 too. Once for not standing up for the black caucus & again for voting for, without reading, the Patriot Act.

Considering the repub party has been in power 6 of the last 8 years & the damage that has been done, Moore isn't out of line to focus on the repub party. Now that the dems are 'in charge', (& I use that term loosly), Moore's focus will change. I think he's a great voice for We the People.

Remember "I've Got A Golden Ticket"? Tauzin was spot lit and singled out for extreme castigation.

15. Billy Tauzin USED to be a Democrat
but switched to Republican (as a lot of other traitors) after the 1994 GOP landslide victory. But that's just a minor technical point.

5. I thought Moore supported Gore before he supported Obama...
Wasn't he one of the ones who wanted Gore to enter the 2008 race?

8. But but but he only shows one side of the issue... but but but
And no one seems to be able refute any of the points he makes.

But but but

BTW, Wall Street is a wonderful target for ridicule.
