What three Republicans did to our country
Proof that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Since the end of WW2, only three presidents raised the national debt --
as a percentage of GDP.

1. The republitards not only couldn't keep the country safe with one
of their own Supreme Court appointments in the White House, but they don't know how to manage money well either. I guess this is what happens when a bunch of trust fund baby corporate whores get their hands on the government purse strings.

2. The nation should learn from this.
We must never, ever again let republicans control our country's economy or foreign policy. They make a complete hash of everything they touch and then lie, lie, lie about it for years afterwards. Then their followers start shooting their guns.

Pathetic, worthless people.

3. And People Still Believe That Shit...
Not long ago I encountered someone I hadn't seen in over 25 years...he was borderline GOOPer when we worked together, today he's a full fledged Freeper. While we agreed to disagree, he kept railing about how Obama was going to socialize the country and spend the country into oblivion. I laughed in his face...I had no regrets in doing so...and asked him how much money his buddy booooshie had squandered. He tried every trick in the book..."kept us safe" and "booooosh wasn't a fiscal conservative"...each time I laughed. I bought him another cup of coffee and told him that until he and others in his party are honest about holding their leaders accountable and dropped the time-worn and now debunked notion that GOOPers are fiscially responsible. He didn't say much after that...somehow he was interested in talking sports.

4. It's not just spending, it's what the spending is for
When republicans cry about spending, it's usually about spending for change or progress, i.e. education, environmental clean-up and regulation, or just helping the poor. On the other side of the ledger, they want to cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations, while spending like crazy on defense.

In 1980 I was wrong about Reagan. I thought he wanted to undo the '60's and take us back to the '50's. What he really wanted was to undo the 20th century and take us back to the 1890's when the rich were at the apex of their power, government was weak, and labor was cheap. They wanted to keep in place an unbalanced class system, that history has shown to be unsustainable. They want a strong defense because they know that they'll be making enemies in the places overseas they exploit to get raw materials.

Dig deep into any republican argument, and it comes back to this. They want to prevent any change that hasn't happened, and undo the ones that have, all to bring us back to, and keep us in the golden age of capitalism.

5. But what is it called ?
In essence, what Reagan did by cutting taxes and running up military debt, was to cut the income of our government while at the same time forcing on it obligations that could not be paid for.

There is a word for actions like that. What is that word ? Ah, yes. Now I remember ! It's called treason !
