Sources: No 3rd Governor Term For Pawlenty
Source: WCCO

St. Paul (WCCO) Two sources have confirmed that Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will announce that he will not seek re-election in 2010.

The sources confirmed to WCCO-TV political reporter Pat Kessler that the announcement about Pawlenty's future plans will include an announcement that he will not seek a third term.

The announcement is expected to be made at a 2 p.m. press conference.

Pawlenty, a Republican, is the state's 39th governor, succeeding Jesse Ventura after he declined to seek re-election. He has served two terms in the position.

1. Now he has no incentive to seat Franken.
And all the incentive in the world to not seat him.

Al may be the first guy in the world to seek re-election without ever being seated.

3. Pawlenty would have lost re-election but will leave boasting of MN. support of
which he has less than %50. If it is ruled that Franken be seated, what will T-Paw do if he seeks to run for President? He has higher ambitions but is lower in rank as a Republican Party nominee. I suspect he will move into another political position. Say "Chair of the Repub Party???"

8. He has to leave now.
His stunt failed and Minnesota will quickly grow to despise him. Opening up a rotten fruit and vegetable stand across the street from him would be a profitable endeavor.

10. That is correct.
There is no way in heck that Pawlenty would ever be reelected in MN--he BARELY won a 2nd term. He may try to deny seating Franken as Senator, but if he does, he may also be booted from office by the MN citizens by recall for nonfeasance BEFORE he finishes his second term. How would THAT look on his resume if he tries to run for POTUS? (which I personally don't think he would have a shot at anyway---he is wholly and completely UNremarkable)

17. He can complete a full sentence and fakes the appearance of intelligence and
"caring". He will stand out because he has that "every-man" sort of thing. We must keep him front and center in exposing him for the rat hole that he is.Do not ever think that he does not stand a chance. He fools people.

14. Hot damn.
Now we'll just have to see which asshole Dean Barkley trots out fuck up the works one more time. A lot of people have benefited from the efforts of the Minnesota Independence party--all of them Republican--and none, NONE more than T. Paw.

However, no mztter what happens I will not miss the smugness that is Pawlenty.

19. Pawlenty figured a scuffle awaits in the gubernatorial race in Minnesota
and he may have felt he could not risk it, so why not become a contender for the national GOP stage?

I think his presidential ambitions are very keen and he sees himself outsmarting the other likely contenders.

At the moment I think Huckabee is is biggest challenge, and maybe Romney's money. In any sort-out right now, the nomination must look well within reach to Pawlenty. Huckabee and Romney were contenders in 2008 but neither one of them could outwit or outlast McCain. Huckabee was more populist-folksy; Romney was far wealthier; and McCain's pathetic political strategists outflanked them both.

Pawlenty likely doesn't regard Jindal, Palin, or Barbour as serious contenders. Gingrich may be the only person who regards Gingrich as a serious contender.

It looks to me as if Pawlenty is applying for the top job.

20. With Pawlenty out of the gubernatorial race, are there some strong
possibilities on our team in Minnesota who could step in and win the job?
