One more time--check for unclaimed property! Success to report.
Somebody here on DU, and I'm sorry I can't find the thread, put up information about the unclaimed
property website not too long ago

http://www.unclaimed.org/

Long story short, I found three accounts with hubby's name on them in Nebraska, where we lived
from 1994-2000. I also found an account for my mother (who died in 2000) and my father (who died
in 2002)in California.

Today a Treasury Warrant from the State of Nebraska arrived for hubby in the amount of $886.39!
No information on the source of the funds. Two of the accounts were listed for >$100 each and one was
listed for <$100 on the state website, so we had figured it was worth the paperwork and getting
it notarized.

Thanks to DU!

Hubby agreed we should make a donation from our windfall.

:applause: to DU'ers looking out for each other!

2. A couple of years ago I found my name on the list in a state I had moved away from 20 years prior.
I sent in the form and my tax tax return from 1983 to prove that I had lived at a certain address that year. Within days I received a check for $1200. The funds had been escheated by Deutsche Bank. I have absolutely no idea what it was for.

7. Greetings.
I was in C.H. this afternoon. The road between Durham and C.H. has way too many cars. I always pass an accident or two or three in that three-five mile stretch and always, always, road construction. We need light rail don't you think?

:fistbump:

11. I'd love to see light rail. Sigh. Maybe in 20 years?

5. I found money on one we lived at 30 years ago, but they want proof that we
lived there. How do I get that?

6. Hubby only had to submit a list of previous addresses.
Did you own a house? You might try the county registrar's office.

I am so gonna nail my ex's ass. I turned up on the list but at an address I have NEVER lived. Same address that turned up on my grown daughter's credit report once. She didn't recognize address but it rang a bell with me. Yep, the ol ex had claimed her as a dependent on his taxes THREE years after he changed the locks on the house we had as a family (his girlfriend, now wife didn't like daughter being polite but cold) and left her suddenly homeless and crying at my window at 3 AM when she had no where to go after coming home and not being able to get in. All she had were the clothes on her back.

I wanted daughter to turn him into IRS for that one, as I figured she would be in a mess if she had an audit. She had rent receipts for the year she somehow ended up with his address, but it would still have been a headache. She let it pass, figuring he wouldn't pull it again

Now I turn up in records from that state as having that address? :wtf: Don't know what the SOB pulled that got my name associated with his address, but we ARE gonna get it sorted out.

OH BOY AM I PISSED.

13. You betcha! Whole lotta phone calls happen tomorrow!
It cracked me up that I got a really mushy, angst filled letter of apology from him years ago. It was postmarked the day AFTER Lorena Bobbit was acquitted.

My staff REALLY enjoyed that one! I went to work, shared the event with 'the girls' then asked: OK, which one of you squealed to him that I learned to shoot recently? The older, Hispanic lady in the group said "Ah, you just put the ground glass in his burrito! No noise!" Two of the younger ladies said they had brothers who could mess him up real bad if I wanted. Up until then, I had no idea what a dangerous posse I had working for me ;) Told them I needed them at work and not in jail, but I was touched by their dedication/

10. I found my mom
but I don't recognize the address. I sent it to my sister to follow up on. She's the executor of their wills.
