House Democrats Offer Plan to Ban Use of 'Global War on Terror'

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

WASHINGTON — House Minority Leader John Boehner blasted a Democrat-backed plan on Wednesday to ban the use of "global War on Terror" and "long war" in the 2008 defense budget bill.

A memo sent to Democratic staffers on the House Armed Services Committee instructed the aides not to use the specific phrases, the Military Times newspaper reported.

Boehner accused Democrats of launching an "absurd effort to deny the fact that America is battling terrorism on a global scale," according to a statement released Wednesday by his office.

This language change...
Pelosi's 'take a deep breath' scolding...
Cheney hiding in the Bushes like a minder of some sort...
Pelosi's visits to Syria, Israel...
The release of the British sailors...

almost forgot: the dis-invitation from King Saud...

12. I've come to the conclusion that some people need to fight and if you are hindered by a religious
doctrine that makes it a sin to even curse you are going to have all sorts of constipated feelings. They only proper way for them to get rid of these feelings is to fight an enemy. All these fundy's say "They want to kill us" and that gives them an excuse to fight. They fight in the name of protecting themselves, protecting their families and protecting their loved ones.

I mean the poor people are banned from cursing. Cursing uses up a lot of pent up frustration and anxiety. How many times have I (you?) gotten relief from just saying the works "Fuck" "Dickhead" "Asshole" "Jerkoff" "Scumbag" ("insert word here")

These poor people can't curse, they can't fart, they can't have any type of normal release so they have to make up a pretend enemy that they must protect themselves against.

For the love of God let them curse! I swear it would stop a lot of wars.

6. Well WTF we actually aren't "battling terrorism on a global scale"
I'm not sure we're battling it anywhere. We're spending ourselves into bankruptcy making ourselves hated in Iraq, we're running around Afghanistan like a dog chasing his tail with very little to show for it, and we are ignoring terrorism right here in the good ol' US of A like people threatening to poison supreme court justices, bombing abortion clinics and sending anthrax laden letters to Democratic senators. Let's not talk the talk if we aren't willing to walk the walk.

9. Breath of fresh air
It doesn't change the size of the task, it doesn't change the nature of true extremists, it doesn't change the challenges of security...

But it begins to sweep away the dogma and fear so we can more clearly understand our place in the world. Through eyes red with rage, everyone looks like an enemy, even those who would wish to be our allies.

Sanity, diplomacy, tact, honesty -- please let these things guide the country.
